For those saying people need to be forced to stay in and not just asked to, do you think there’s actually a practical way of being able to achieve it? They could come out and threaten fines but who’s going to be enforcing it?
Police? Army personnel?
Not having a go, just wondering.
Drove through Cheadle at 6.30 and pubs and restaurants empty as are the roads so maybe people around here are being sensible. Who knows how this will pan out but hopefully we will have fewer deaths by the methods being imposed at the moment. Despite draconian measures in places like Italy infections and deaths seem to be increasing far greater than here.Ok, people won’t go because they’ve been told not to. Naive
Just to confirm, I’m the fourth case in cheadle hulme.
Noted..Just a reminder, after today’s presser, that we have a new thread in the Politics Subforum for discussion related to the political influence and implications of the government’s response to COVID-19:
COVID-19: Political Discussion Thread
General discussion about the government’s response within the context of what is being requested or enforced, as well as posts better explaining the guidance given will be allowed in the ‘COVID-19 — Coronavirus’ thread. However, any posts regarding politics, party stances/comments, specific criticism of officials, and the like will go in the Political Discussion Thread.
The general ‘COVID-19 — Coronavirus’ thread is meant for discussion about the outbreak, the general science behind it and official responses, our own actions in response to the pandemic, general commiserations, and other non-political topics related to the outbreak.
