clueless South African tries to explain how Brexit will work - in these troubled times this is comedy gold

No, we have a population that voted for it, nothing has changed, and the EU is now irrelevant.

I think there is a reason that the government are quiet on it. It is not going to happen any time soon. They know it - but how do they communicate it to the morons that think it is holy pilgrimage that we must undertake?

The only problem is that COVID is going to put the country on its knees for quite some time. Adding a shit Brexit deal or No deal will cripple us completely.
Probably, but Boris can get away with blaming it all on the virus, just as remainers blame everything on brexit. The overall ineptitude and ineffectiveness of the EU in the face of this crisis actually brings some comfort to those of us worried about federalism or the establishment of an EU army. Aside from extracting money off member states and creating redundant bureaucracy they are clearly about as much use as tits on fish.

Where’s the evidence of this ineptitude in dealing with a crisis that is clearly the responsibility of individual member states? We are not like the USA much as many of the Brexiteers think we are.

Where's the evidence of the lack of ineptitude - Italian deaths?

we have bigger fish to fry - however we have a govt hell bent on adding Brexit economic harm to Covid-19 economic harm - I really don't see a great future for the UK
This has been on my mind.

Totally rebuilding our economy whilst cutting off our nearest neighbours at a time when they will be rebuilding is going to nobble us terribly and irrevocably.

If Johnson had any bollocks he’d use this to can Brexit in a year or so. It isn’t the time to be talking about this to the hoi polloi yet but don’t rule it out.

The “everything has changed now” excuse might just save the country’s bacon in the medium and long term.

Brexit isn’t, and never was, about cutting ourselves off from our nearest neighbours. Friendship, trade and cooperation are perfectly possible now that we’re out. Now could be the perfect time to be thinking about our future relationship. Neither side are in a position for these talks to fail.

Oh yes. The EU is clearly responsible for the Italian government’s response to the pandemic!! Would that be the imaginary EU Department of Health that should have done more?

FFS.
Tell you what mate. Don't take my word for it just Google 'eu response to covid' and have a look through the first three pages of results. It's the most self serving useless shit ever. Makes hs2 look well thought out, and the only thing they areconcerned about is their own income. The whole thing will fall apart in two years now instead of 5-10.

Just had a look. If you ignore the bollocks in the Express and the Mail, it’s all fairly inconsequential. Some good and some bad. If you look hard enough you’ll see what you want to see.

I’m talking about cutting them off as free trade partners. We will need as much international trade as we can get from wherever we can get it when this is over, because the country will be utterly skint. All countries will be skint. That’s the point. We won’t be in any kind of position to take the enormous economic hit which nobody now denies Brexit produces.

I agree, neither will the EU, that was my point. I’d go further and suggest all tariffs should be removed.
