I'm not keen at all on them using us in the press conferences. A few days ago it was pointing out our lack of ventilators, last night it was the 17.5 million tests we bought not working, despite the fact we didn't buy them, we had them on order pending successful testing.

I highly doubt we'll publicly challenge those remarks back, but we absolutely should do.

I’d say that those who have discounted his proposed therapeutics out of hand could be in for a shock. The question I’d ask is what’s in for him to recommend a drug that turns out to be a dud? If he pushes this therapy in the teeth of opposition from the media and it turns out to save American lives it could turn out to be a game changer in the fight against the virus and therefore in his re-election campaign.
He’s “recommending” it because he wants this to be over. COVID is ruining his life. He can’t hold rallies and he can’t play golf. And he has to have meetings and work and shit. A miracle cure is his fantasy, a dream come true. That’s what’s in it for him. He brings it up because his pressers are free association binges and he can’t help it.

And do you think “the media” would “oppose” it if respected medical professionals didn’t?

This is exactly the kind of post that makes me nervous about November 2020.

or perhaps he knows how widely it is being used and as he's not the head of CDC he can speak on the subject freely.

Per your report, 1/3 (37%) of physicians that have treated CV19 patients believe it’s the most effective therapy (although it’s only 23% in the US. By comparison, 51% of US doctors in that survey believe doing “nothing” is more effective and 21% think paracetamol is as effective, if not more effective)

Not sure what you think you’ve posted GD.

It is one ingredient in a cocktail that medics are using in some instances. The main ingredients are antibiotics that will do far more in assisting the immune system. The drug trump is pushing is an immune suppressant - that may help some but hinder others. I don't think anyone knows the real impact.

The way he talks about - without any regard for facts is just misleading.

I was going to post that exact stat actually -- it's an interesting piece of work but I'm not sure what this has to do with Trump or why he keeps bringing this up. Anyway I already know why, and said so. And I should have added that as soon as the media begins to bring up concerns about lack of efficacy and side effects -- or rather, broadcasts medical experts that do -- Trump doubles down because that's his modus operandi -- to double down when he's criticized. It's reason #4,893 why he's categorically unfit to be President.

Exactly, and it may end up working and being rolled out. But it will be the experts that decide (and what dosage and who needs it and who needs to avoid it) as it is with every other fucking drug.

There is no evidence either way with this drug. People who were given and survived it simply may have recovered without it.

There is however a truck load of clinical trial information as to the side effects of this drug.

I have taken a similar drug, Mefloquine (Larium), and I can attest to the side effects being brutal. I took it once a week for about 4 months as an anti-malarial drug. I know some people that took it that had some particularly serious 'episodes'. Anyone with a heart condition, or history of mental illness should be nowhere near it.

That’s a tremendous call. I was following the fact checking on cnn as I was watching it last night, and they were doing a tremendous job, but they didn’t mention that particular ‘misspeak’

Whitehouse Press secretary has just been sacked.

Considering she's never held a briefing I don't see it as a loss.

Remember, he was still (like a fucking idiot) comparing it to seasonal Flu at this time (presumably having read it - and if he can’t be arsed reading memos addressed to him saying 2m may die then he really shouldn’t be in the job):
