Scariest away day following City

So Moss Side wasn’t where many gangs were based? There were shootings galore at one point. I’d not want to raise a family in that kind of environment.
I only ever saw one shooting in Moss side late 80s. We used to park on Princess Rd opposite Alexandra park. Getting back in the car after a game when we heard “Bang Bang” and then the Olympic 100m sprint came running out of the park and up one of the side streets followed by a kid on a BMX with a revolver style hand gun.

So don't......I lived in Moss Side during the Gooch Close stuff early 90's......I'm still here never got shot.

Loads of sound lads in Moss Side.....loads of scumbags. Just like anywhere. London isn't such a great place to live either. Everywhere has its own problems.

Let's face it you just jump on any chance to slag Manchester or Mancs off. Not sure why to be honest.

Crack on....we aint arsed.

The hasty and defensive replies indicate that you are “arsed”, don’t they?

Moss Side was single handedly the worst area of Manchester for gun crime. Do you not value lives? It was notorious.

Nobody I knew had any intention to go there were it not for Maine Road. People should be proud to live in safe areas where good values are held.

summat not right about you ;)

Did you go Sheff Utd away with London branch about 85? Train got in about 1pm and there were about 3 lads between 17 and 30. The rest seemed like families or older blokes. Soon as you come out of station there is a pub on corner with their lot watching whose arrived. Copper sent us down one road towards ground, whilst watching about 30 of them head off downthe road next to, it to cut us off. Almost as both roads meet we saw Sheff utd and everyone ran. We could then see the ground and there were some Blues in the distance. Me and another Blue slowed down and he turned and asked them to come on then. Some jumping about but they went back to the pub. Maybe it was cos we werent a crew, or cos it was now closer to the ground im not sure.

Think I was there that day. Police gave us an escort out of the station towards the ground. All of a sudden we noticed the Police had disappeared. Some Sheff Utd lads came out from these alley ways on the opposite side of the road giving it large. Then we heard some blues behind us shouting they have blades. I wasn't hanging around so legged it into this dead end car park. Heard these voices behind and remember thinking Oh my god, I turned round and thank goodness it was fellow blues. We eventually got to the ground unharmed.

You see what you want to see through tunnel vision pal. Fuck knows why you claim to be a blue yet constantly slag Manchester and mancs off.

Hello again. I love the way you try and insult me but still insist on using that muggy Manc patois of “pal”. I’ve met you once and you were convinced I didn’t like you.

Someone needed to educate the young black children of Moss Side that drug dealing and guns weren’t a productive way to live life.

I attempted to go out in Rusholme and Moss Side and had nothing but problems. Forgive me for not wanting to consider these people friends...

I lived there from about 89-95, and tbh felt safe as houses. I didn't have a pot to piss in which probably helped as I wasn't worth robbing or mugging, but never had an ounce of bother. You are right about the gun crime, but those lads were not going to mug people for £5 or steal a £50 second hand tv. Unless you were part of the trouble, you never really saw any. I moved to bits of North Mcr and Salford after that, and frankly felt much less safe because some white (rag) scally toe-rag would cheerfully stab you for a bag of chips and 50p round there.

Would it had been December '85, ended 0-0 ?
Spent the Friday night in Brownley Road Police Station for D & D, but still daft enough to head over to Sheffield the next morning.

Still hungover, chased all over Sheffield City centre. Ended up in a pub with fellow blues near the ground but were soon sussed out and barricaded ourselves in the lounge.
Was pretty sure the windows were going to be caved him until Police arrived in force to escort us to the ground. Interesting weekend !

Some are your posts are very strange for someone pertaining to be a blue. To be honest PAL, there are good and bad wherever you go/live/travel. To suggest otherwise is either idiotic or born out of ignorance. Or your just a WUM. Ohhh, and i tried to put thta point across in my best, gruff gutteral Manc.

Remember Coventry away 1985 ish sammy mc, scored 1-1 draw we stopped at a boozer piled out of a transit van pissed up right into a boozer full of their lads, got hit on the head with a 3 foot hanging basket someone dropped from the upstairs window fuck me that was heavy. Tables glasses pool balls everywhere not scariest day but fun anyway

I remember playing Coventry on a Sunday in the 80s, it was a daft kick off time, morning if i recall think we drew 2-2. Went on the special and it broke down so got in the ground late. West Midlands police always enjoyed getting stuck in.
