Subtle.I am struggling through a long episode related to my condition and a few other ongoing issues, unfortunately, and it was a task to type this, so I likely won’t be responding to replies — apologies in advance (except to Trump apologists, who can get ****ed at this point).
Trump, his cronies, and his “republican” enablers have done everything I and many others predicted they would; he, particularly, is on the path to fulfil many other predictions we have made earlier in this thread. And, for those not active in this discussion since 2015, none of our predictions were “good” for anyone, apart from Trump and the neofascist elements in American society.
And yet, somehow, he has acted more incompetently, more callously, more selfishly, more inhumanely, more insanely than all of us predicted. If it is even possible, he has become more vicious and erratic. But that often happens with a cornered rabid dog.
Anyone still defending him or his actions (or extreme, criminal, lack of action) at this point — especially after that truly Strangelovian performance last night — is, to borrow a phrase, a “total authority” on sycophancy and moral bankruptcy.
He is the embodiment of a pathogen at the heart of another deadly and invasive “pandemic”, one which magnifies and intensifies all others, including the current horrific COVID-19 crisis (which, ironically, many of those defending Trump also ignored or downplayed when it first began — many still are). This one has unfortunately been spreading across the world for decades, infecting millions, if not billions of vulnerable people.
It is the virus of glorified malicious ignorance. It is the insidious belief that one person’s opinion is just as valid as another’s expertise, especially if it cuts, entertains, and/or validates problematic feelings or beliefs. This pathogen’s aim is to dissolve reason, logic, truth, and evidence-based perception of reality so it can replicate.
Trump is only one of many major strains of the virus working to obliterate the systems previously developed to fight off such infections.
But, as the results in Wisconsin show, we still have some resistance left. And perhaps our collective response is actually strengthening as we get a clearer picture of the consequences of allowing the infection to grow and strengthen.
We can only hope that is the case, and do our part to fight it off, so the very real sacrifices so many are and will be making to mitigate the worst manifestations of this man-made virus are not in vein.

And frankly, given everything is slowly becoming more difficult for me to do, I simply no longer have the surplus energy nor inclination to attempt to disabuse such people of their malicious beliefs or educate them past their ignorance. If the literal global death and destruction, made substantially worse by the various manifestations of “Trumpism” across the world, is not sufficient to change your views on reality, I am confident my rebukes will have as much impact as thoughts and prayers will on gun violence.
