Covid 19 will change the EU just as it will change the rest of the world.

Could it become an organisation that the anti brigade might embrace ?

If so, what would that look like ?

Brexiteers would likely to be happy with the EU if it just meant tariff free trade across the continent, I’m guessing.

The EU will never be that though and therefore it’s not even a starter.

We haven't left yet, and all this reveals is that British workers can't be found to do back breaking labour in fields for minimum wage but workers from poorer parts of the EU can be exploited.
Glad to hear you want food prices to go up for all the newly unemployed. Or will we just import more?

Its a good point, but I'd prefer farmers and consumers to be spared the pain and the supermarkets to take the hit. Whole different argument there though.

Pointless post then!

We’re parachuting in essential workers that under Patel’s new immigration policy fall into the category ‘please fuck off and don’t come here you unskilled riff raft’.

Ah it’s a brave new world :)

Priti Patel is probably in some dark room somewhere sobbing her eyes out.

Mine or his?

I was making that very point you eejit.
I don’t think it was pointless. If the Covid crisis results in the end of political and monetary union, which it may well do, what replaces it could well be palatable to most Brexiteers.

So when you initially referred to them doing back breaking work for minimum wage as exploiting them you really meant putting them in a plane. Right Donald
both really - or have you just found a cure for covid that makes plane travel fine for eastern europeans to pick your veg you sanctimonious twat?

One of the aims of Brexit was British jobs for British workers - those snake oil salesmen who sold the prospectus assured us all that British workers woud do this work and be adequately rewarded for it.

Oh - and 11pm 31/1/20 - ring a bell? Thats when the UK officially left the EU.

Sorry, but as long as we are in this 'transition' I feel we are just leaving rather than have left. Please don't misunderstand my thoughts on immigrant workers. Not only am I all for them, but realise our, aging population desperately needs them.

Touchy aren’t you? Just because you made yourself look stupid with your first post. The £13-14 an hour reported is well above minimum wage.

Of course I’d be interested to know what safeguards are in place for those workers coming over but rather than jump to conclusions I looked into the reporting of it and although it doesn’t look foolproof it looks like what reasonable measures could be taken have been.

Still waiting to hear how it's OK to import labour on a packed plane at present to pick your veg. Same logic that made it OK to pack immigrants into grenfell tower to serve the good folk of Kensington in Starbucks and clean the office I suppose.

So you’ve not read the reports that say what measures are being put in place, including social distancing measures on planes that are going to be far from packed.

I take it you’ll be refusing to buy any veg or indeed any products that you think might have been produced by exploited labour.

Stop trying to personalise it by suggesting they are being flown over for my benefit and don’t cheapen the discussion with your spurious reference to Grenfell

Just another example of the sort of economic exploitation of humans you are happy to see put food on your plate. I've no doubt my own shopping basket is far from beyond reproach, but I don't try to present exploitation as an opportunity.

I am sure someone can correct me. I do however call bollocks about social distancing on planes. Flights would run at a loss.
