I look at it differently. The stakes are very high in admitting this because it means you have to throw away the entire moral code you've based your life on if you admit that the Bible is not literal fact. If Genesis is untrue, then that means the Gospels and the remainder might be too. And if that's the case, there is no permanent punishment for evil or permanent reward for doing good. So life becomes, in their eyes, pointless. No one wants to de-anchor and rethink an entire life philosophy -- it's too hard. We all do it in one form or another (we all support City come hell or high water, right? :)). It's why Trump's supporters won't leave him either.

It doesn't make them stupid necessarily -- it makes them fearful necessarily.
No, it firmly makes them incredibly stupid

Nah. Even the fucking Pope (I’m told he’s religious and shits in the woods - I think) accepts the Bible isn’t the literal word of God and that Genesis is allegorical. Same for the leaders of the Anglican Church.

Any fucker that believes the Earth is 10,000 years old, despite literally mountains of evidence to the contrary is a mouth breathing simpleton whether they are scared or not.

Obviously some are stupid, some are uneducated -- but stupid is not the unifying characteristic behind all Trump supporters, mate.

Fear is.

If anyone got a tanker spare, we can get a barrel of oil from USA toniight and get paid 1.5$ just to take it from producers. Wait few months and we'd have enough money to buy united, liverpool, arsenal, barca and bayern and burn their stadiums just for fun. Add La liga headquarters to that too.

Yeah there is a pretty easy get out for Christians with the Bible not being literal fact, in that they just have to say it was God talking to his children and that you don't tell children the absolute truth, you just tell them a story with the right message as the actual truth is far too complex. Pretty reasonable, the average person 2,000 years ago probably wouldn't be particularly receptive to the idea of the big bang theory, considering they were about as clever as the average Trump supporter.

But instead they seem happy to largely ignore massive parts of it and then decide the bits that support the terrible views they hold are in fact 100% gods word and unquestionable. These people are just moronic cunts who like to have their shitty views backed up by some "higher power" that they can use to forever excuse their rancid behaviour.

So you don’t think the vast majority of his followers (some 40% of the US) are creationist, religious fanatic, pro life or pro gun?

You can argue the racist element I’d bet as even in the Deep South, not that many are willing to go on record with their thoughts so it would be harder to prove to you.

I await your reply, a reply from someone that’s obviously done zero research into the above, and yet still has the balls to suggest it’s me that’s the moron. Irony indeed. Let me ask you this, in 2020, do you think holding the view that the creation myth (and the Earth being 10,000 years old) is a moronic view or one based on evidence, reason and understanding?
You have evidence that 40% of Americans are morons? I’m all ears.

So I’ve already explained why it’s my opinion that anyone, in 2020, in America (with free education to 18) believing the earth is 10,000 years old is a moron. Well here’s the data that 40% do indeed believe that:

https://www.livescience.com/46123-many-americans-creationists.html

As for Trump supporters being religious fanatics, some 80% of Evangelicals support him despite a lifetime of doing everything they preach that they abhor:

https://time.com/5161349/president-trump-white-evangelical-support-slaveholders/

Then we come on to the pro-gun nuts, some 77% of NRA members are Republicans or lean Republican:

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-ta...s-have-a-unique-set-of-views-and-experiences/

Then we come on to his support being “Pro Life” (a subject he never had strong feelings on until he realised it was a vote winner in the Deep South with 2/3rds support:

https://news.gallup.com/poll/107458/Abortion-Issue-Laying-Low-2008-Campaign.aspx

And then I suppose we may as well go on to the education level of his support as opposed to that of his November opponent which shows a hugely inverse correlation between education level and who they are likely to vote for:

I could have left it at the creationist morons to amply support my suggestion, but I thought I may as well back up my other points.

I know you’re a Tory, nothing wrong with that. So am I. But don’t simply equate the conservative = Conservative = Republican. Because it doesn’t. They’re so far to right of the Tories that the two don’t remotely marry up.

Do you think it's a cultural/American thing?
As in to cast doubts on the figurehead is tantamount to "treason?"
Quite possibly yeah. I hadn’t thought of it that way before. But I suppose a Head of State is different to a PM although not even our MP’s generally attack a PM in such a way. In public at any rate.

Apparently 17.4 Million Brits are morons and racist also which has been said on this thread, I'm also all ears but because it was anti BREXIT it was deemed ok here.
His issue is with my post and it wasn’t me that posted about Brexit. So try not to muddy the two.

So that’s a no then.

So that’s a no then.
It’s an absolute yes. Also, you must be aware of mean averages. Therefore you must also understand that in a population 49.9% are of below average intelligence.

But hey, if you think that believing the Earth is 10,000 years old is a reasonable, considered, intelligent view, then it says a great deal about you and where you are on the bell curve.

No It wasn't it was Gaudino M that posted it, and I didn't intentionally muddy your post I just stated a fact that in the last hour 17.4 Million Brits were accused of being morons and racist, think the post by him has been removed so lets just move on.
