It’s an absolute yes. Also, you must be aware of mean averages. Therefore you must also understand that in a population 49.9% are of below average intelligence.

But hey, if you think that believing the Earth is 10,000 years old is a reasonable, considered, intelligent view, then it says a great deal about you and where you are ok the bell curve.
Just because you’re not college educated this doesn’t make you a moron. This is the type of condescending attitude that leads to a presidential candidate describing Trump supporters as a basket of deplorables.

Yeah I see you’ve totally ignored the main thrust of my point as you’ve no answer for it. Being non college educated does not make you a moron, believing the Earth is 10,000 years old however, does. Jog on then.

It doesn't make them stupid necessarily -- it makes them fearful necessarily. And that's where the amorality part comes in. Trump and his enablers, like evangelical preachers and hucksters for centuries, prey on this fear. They don't want to ease it -- they want to stoke it. Because they and their products are the answer to quelling it. Whether it's the Word of God or an anti-immigration, pro-gun policy.

It makes them stupid precisely because what they are fearful of.

They have been convinced by a failed businessman and racist carnival barker with a proven track record of lying that the Democrat's are the epitome of evil, who will eat their babies and take away their guns. The reality is that many of them benefit the most from democratic policies.

If anyone got a tanker spare, we can get a barrel of oil from USA toniight and get paid 1.5$ just to take it from producers. Wait few months and we'd have enough money to buy united, liverpool, arsenal, barca and bayern and burn their stadiums just for fun. Add La liga headquarters to that too.

I’m in for a tenner....

You were getting paid $37 a barrel at one stage today.

How has Trump turned the need for ventilators into a Left V Right thing? Maybe he hasn’t managed it but that is what he is trying

The most left-wing person I know thinks the Lockdown in the U.K. is too much and I know plenty of right-wingers who see it lockdown as necessary

My dad is a conspiracy theorist and Dumb Donald supporter. The other day he forwarded a video to me of an "expert" who says social distancing is the worst thing we could be doing and that vitamins D and C work better than a vaccine would.

Also, a lot of these protests breaking out across the country are because some states won't allow paint stores to remain open. All of a sudden the lack of ability to buy paint or go to a hair salon are the exact same thing as the holocaust.

Next conference due in 25 mins.

Probably best add an hour on whilst he looks to blame the Saudis for the oil prices.

It's also not just fear, it's anger. I've written about this before. Anger about globalization that has passed them by. Anger at having their religious beliefs not only disagreed with, but then called wrong, and then called immoral. Anger at the young tech-rich who they know all about thanks to social media that they never got a part of. Anger at wealth disparity. Anger at the fact that sometimes scofflaws are treated better policy-wise than they are.

Here's my thing -- it's easy to call them stupid, or evil. And I've already said -- I see support for Trump as an intellectual and/or moral failure. But I am trying to be empathetic as to WHY they haven't been able to use their intellects to see through this man, or their moral center to see past this man.

Because if they are a simple irredeemable sub-species, and we call and treat them as such, we can NEVER reunify the nation behind any President. Or at least it will take far, far longer with even more division and acrimony than we have now, if that's possible.

My fear is that acceptance of Trump's behavior by the "ambivalents" -- the most craven of ALL in this melodrama -- impacts the nation precedent-wise the same way Washington refusing to be called king or stay for a third term did (til FDR) -- only in the opposite fashion. We have to reject the MAN, not the people who voted for him when they are citizens like us, when they are fearful and angry. Some of that fear and anger can be addressed, which is where some of the radicals here (Sanders supporters) have a point or two once in awhile.

I will say again what I think galvanized Trump supporters more than anything else was Clinton calling them "deplorables" (or having been perceived as having done so). That's what we as rational people regardless of where we come down on the political spectrum can't afford to do again.

Really good post. It's how I've seen things for a long time.
