Dogs are being trained to detect coronavirus in passengers arriving at UK airports.
Canines at the Medical Detection Dogs charity have previously been used to find cancer, Parkinson's disease and malaria and will receive similar training in order to help during the pandemic.

The organisation's founder believes the animals could detect COVID-19 in asymptomatic travellers arriving in the UL when lockdown measures are relaxed.

Couldn’t get a cat to do this!

Too harsh I think.
In all my career in civil aviation the phrase "passengers leave their brain in the terminal when they board" has rung true, but it's not the same from my military transport days. So what's the difference between a typical squaddie and a typical civilian passenger? I would argue it isn't IQ.
Yet another bit of research needed. Does the virus get worse in nations that don't have national service? Theirs not to reason why, theirs but to obey orders and not die...

which is why we need a national social service, if generations now can't parent properly then the youngsters need to be trained in it so we have future generations who have developed the discipline to behave appropriately, have respect for the rules and others and not engage in low-level criminal activity.

Not military based but translating some of those skills into civilian setting, and then we wouldn't need to appeal for volunteers in situations like this, we'd have a ready made network of people to call upon immediately.

I appreciate people have disdain for the old military service, but have a social, civilian based programme I think we are desperately crying out for given our limitations and the behaviour of a lot of people.
Christ on a bike. I wouldn’t want every town in the country full of people like the barracks town of Hampshire!

My major concern is that new cases have clearly plateaued with Rt (R0 at a later point in time) being nearly at one.
Infection is still occurring at a level that will take ages to bring the virus under control to a level that will allow the economy to be opened up.
Infections on public transport, queuing for shopping, shopping, high density housing and people getting closer than 2m, and knobheads are clearly keeping the figure too high.
Cloth face coverings must be made mandatory when outside NOW!

Of course I was joking, which I am sure you knew.

But it does raise an interesting point. They really do need to do tests on everyone, old, young, healthy, sick, previously infected or not. No good having a vaccine which is great for everyone who's fit and healthy but which decimates the old and the sick!

FFS! Don't give them ideas!!!

Interesting to see they have found 2 died from it in the States much earlier than they thought. One as far back as 6 Feb, certainly adds fuel to the argument many are making for it having been around outside China much earlier than being admitted.

I saw a report somewhere it could have been around from late September but who knows? There is so much being posted out there it kind of merges into one.

2 separate studies have come to similar conclusions: about 1/3 of Stockholm have or have had the virus. A population of about 2,35 million and there have been 5826 recorded cases. Thats abou 1 in 400 showing significant symptoms.

The Health Ministry have withdrawn their study after they found an error. They will release a revised result tomorrow.

A separate (3rd) study of blood donors from 10 day ago showed that 11% had antibodies.

I fear we are too far gone but this crisis could be a chance to try and claw it back a bit.

Without getting too political when you had a prime minister saying there is no such thing as society, followed by the "Loads of money!" culture, then vast swathes of the country left to fester and rot, basically abandoned, then it's no wonder 30+ years later we are where we are.

There is absolutely no way this lockdown can be extended, in it's present form, beyond mid May. It's costing over 2 billion per day.
