COVID-19 — Coronavirus

I agree that banning fishing and golf is a bit pointless. Anyone could easily do either whilst maintaining social distancing.
There’s nothing I’d like more than to go for a few pints in my local, but social distancing would break down fairly quickly once the alcohol starts flowing. Comparing it to public transport is wrong. We’re going to have to find a way of making public transport safe because we can’t do without it, but we can do without going for a pint.

I concur, golf and fishing my number 2 and 3 sports behind following the Blues.

So some health care leaders believe that there will be significantly more deaths from the non treatment of cancer patients due to the current restrictions and priorities than directly from COVID19. Makes you wonder if the treatment balance is currently correct?

The NHS is open,it is people either being too scared to go to hospital or thinking they can't go

I guess China is the template as they have lifted lockdown to an extent after around three months. How that pans out will determine how other countries deal with it.

Could not agree more, I bore all my friends advertising its importance.

About 18 months ago I needed radiotherapy to defeat a dose of prostate cancer which did the job but knocked 7 bells out of my immune system (white cell analysis was in disarray for about a year until it recovered).
During this time it was stressed how very important it was for me to take vitd so I did ,(at the time as a prescription).

As an older person I thought the deficiency was only attacking older people but MRI said in my case it was probably not so as they found low values across all creeds and ages.

Sorry to hear you had a shite experience I'm just recovering myself, I decided to have surgery to remove my prostate rather than radiotherapy or brachytherapy options, and, got the job done just in time, thankfully.

How are you now?

Here's yet another twist - you can be dying before you really get sick...

I'd give it a bit more credence than some of the quackery about. (Someone posted about a doctor teaching deep breathing exercises - now that seemed odd, if the problem is when the virus gets from the upper respiratory tract and deep into the lung; if that is so, deep breathing would seem quite the wrong thing to do!)

Sorry to butt in can I ask you what were the typical symptoms with the prostate, they call it the silent killer,I went to the doctors about 6 months ago all she did was a full blood test which came back negative, but I’m still a bit weary over this ..

I know 2 people currently going through Chemo and there treatments are going ahead as planned. In one case moving faster than planned due to successful early cycles. 1 friend is in the NW, the other is near London.

so if there are cancelled appointments it’s probably hospital specific, ones that are getting battered by covid, it’s certainly not UK wide.

Simply no way the world can stay in lock down for much longer - the oil refineries are nearly all full, airline industry collapsed, and it’s costing billions for governments every day.

I am sure things will start to ease over the coming few weeks.

But that said, we can turn off oil wells. And governments can borrow whatever amounts are needed. The idea that we cannot possibly cope for more than a few weeks is daft. We put up with far worse than this for 4 years in WW2 and we can stick this out for as long as needed.

If we can get the season voided we’ve reached Pearl Harbor. Time to dig our heels in.

Golf is easy to social distance and fishing. Possible with Crown Green Bowls too if use own Jack each. Big sport for me that! Ha ha
The ban on fishing is ridiculous. When I used to do a lot of carp fishing I'd often go for days without seeing anyone. I reckon I'd be safer there than my local asda. Same on the rivers, if you saw someone on the bank also fishing, you wouldn't set up next to them, you'd walk a few hundred yards away so not to disturb them. Even match anglers are pegged 10 -20 metres apart.
Same goes for golf. I'd often tee off in a four ball and not get anywhere near anyone else till we all got to the green. Mainly because I didn't hit too many fairways. Social distancing while playing golf would be a piece of piss.
And the ironic thing is most anglers and golfers tend to be sensible and responsible people, who are most likely to obey the rules.
If you're missing your golf or fishing you have my sympathy.
Let's hope they lift the ban soon
