I think the more intelligent amongst us know what we need to do.
Stay in.
We don't need government advice, we grasp the concept of a virus.
Unfortunately the UK seems to have a large amount of plebs (my new favourite word)
The problem is the government needs to balance their advice between the thick cunts and the intelligents.
I always knew there was astoundly stupid people amongst us. It's took a global pandemic for them to show us who they are.

Hopefully you'll revisit and reassess this post, tomorrow. You can't have meant it to read how it has.

I'm looking at things from a more sceptical viewpoint and not blindly believing what I'm told on tv and the media. Do governments lie? All the time. Are they in the pocket mainly of big business and the powerful and wealthy? I'd say on the whole yes. Hey it wasn't that long ago Boris and his mob were happy with a possible figure of 250,000 dead, take it on the chin and all that. It was only when it was pointed out it would be political suicide he backtracked, not before still letting Cheltenham and other crowded events go ahead though and letting the public know it was last orders for the pubs, so thousands flocked to them.

I'm not advocating this is all a hoax, or a worldwide conspiracy, or a biological attack or aliens preparing to take over. All I'm saying is I am a little sceptical at tines of the narrative we're being fed.

Unfortunately on here if anyone questions such the usual mob denounce them as insane, lunatics and insults, like take your tinfoil hat off. This just shuts discussion down. All I have to say on the matter further is keep an open mind. Goodnight.

They aren’t all protesting because Trump told them to. Hundreds of millions of people around the world are losing jobs/income and reality is biting. The world simply cannot carry on in lockdown until the point at which a second wave isn't guaranteed, especially as that point might not ever exist. Not sure how far away from a vaccine we are, if ever, but billions of people cannot continue to live civilised lives whilst in lockdown to avoid a second wave. It’s a shit situation, with no easy answer, but the current situation is unsustainable for much longer.
They were sticking to it until he named the states he wanted them to go out and protest,he told them at his nightly briefings that those governors were taking away their rights and guns,it was aimed at democrats and out the crowds went out

Of course we have to protect against a brutal 2nd wave,to do that people have to stay away from each other and restrictions gradually lifted in a controlled way
I had my own business till i had the accident that disabled me,i know how gut wrenching losing your livehood is and try to live on nothing

The thing is we need to realise that we can't go back to where we were for a while yet, maybe a year or longer whist we work on the vaccine and other treatments that might help, the next year will have to social distancing and hand washing and probably PPE that we get online, cleaning everything so you take nothing home to maybe vulnerable family and kids, covid is a highly infectious virus and there is zero chance of no second peak,we have the advantage of about four weeks behind italy and similar to spain,be patience just a little while longer so we can see how they open and what happens to the death rates

This is about keeping people alive, another 813 yesterday, are people now blocking out that that is someones everything,if you need reminding i can remind you (not you,i mean anyone) if you gave it to your family you would never forgive yourself

What is happening from the chancellor? Can everyone check that they are getting everything then can to tied you over, can your business become a take a way ? Even if you can't open you can deliver or they come and get it through the back door, card only, time to be creative where you are

Anyway i don't mean to preach,i am just worried,i have battered the gov on a few things on this subject but i am with a looser type of lockdown, see how that goes and keep an eye on italy,if we go too soon and we have a big spike, lose control of the R and death rates jump up will we be able to get the public to lockdown again

I really wouldn't to be the one making this call,we haven't ever done this before, there is so much we don't know, everyone who has recovered like i have ,have to stick to rules as they cant tell us if we are immune or not

It is a clusterfuck and the scientists from the whole of the world are working on it,what we have been doing is working ,we have to help them get us out of this and that means doing what they ask

Think about the over 20,000 probably nearer 40,000 with care homes and at homes as well, already

We should get back to normal life but that could be a year or more, here and now we need to first off look after your family,if you have a business where you an run it in a different and safer way then that is good,if not you will just have wait and get what you can from the goverment

Care homes looking after dementia residents are possibly not being included in the Covid count. It's a question that needs to be asked by the press, if they wish to take it there.
Plenty of bots online so hopefully one will pick this up.

it’s the minority of pleps you mention that will always show their ignorance.

the Goverment and the press really can’t stress enough the importance of staying in and taking social distancing measures - the vast majority have done so.

I'm glad you posted that. I was beginning to think I was the stupidist poster on here, but even I can't compete with that.

Look I have news for you. If someone posts something you disagree with it's called a different viewpoint. It differs from yours, you might think it is ridiculous, you might find 100 people who agree with you, but it doesn't mean your view is correct and the other person's wrong. It is just different. Oh and the word is stupidest.

ridiculous. And your point is?

ridiculous. And your point is?

My point is obvious in what I have written. The world is full of sneering people like yourself who attack and mock anyone who have a viewpoint that doesn't match theirs. I am through talking to you. As you were.

Thank fuck for that.

When the view is that the govt are allowing the genocide of pensioners because they’re a drain on the State then you’re reaching somewhat.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that there will be a very strong correllation between people who refuse the vaccine and people who have their own mountain cave to hide in.
Have you noticed how all the nut jobs that post and share this shite with us tend to; do it at night, not post any words to accompany the video and don’t stay around for a discussion?

Perfect for governments that not long ago were complaining people were living too long and they would struggle with healthcare and pension costs. Funny that.
Yes, many of the paid up members of the insurance scheme have departed.
Their tax contribution will be missed of course but prescription and care cost savings will help to fund the younger professional army of non contributers who choose the non working route through the whole of their lifes.

Karen.

We can’t keep life shut for fear of a second wave.

The potential consequences on health of doing so far outweigh the health impact of Covid.

We’re talking the collapse of economies, supply chains, food production etc.

As for getting what we can from government, the government don’t have money. The government have our money. Taxes which right now aren’t getting replenished, and if we extend lockdown won’t be replenished until it ends and we get back to where we were. Giving money away to folk to tide them over is not sustainable. We are digging a significant hole and bankrupting society in extended lockdown.

The threads of society that keep things in order around the world aren’t as strong as we’d like to think. The world has never shut down like this. Riots, revolt and wars have started for less.

When we come out of it...we’ll have to pay, taxes will increase, net income will reduce, more people in poverty, mortality increasing due to malnutrition, lack of services, mental wellbeing etc etc.

This is not just about the direct dangers of Covid anymore.

All the more need for openness and honesty.

Government should
  • Show us (the public) what it is doing and thinking across the range of issues of concern
  • Set out the ethical considerations that inform(ed) its judgements
  • Explain how it has arrived at decisions (including taking advice from eg SAGE, MEAG), and not that it is just ‘following the science’
  • Invite a broad range of perspectives into the room, including wider public representation
  • Think ahead – consult and engage other civic interests

Oh I don't know. Stupidist ought to be a word. Stupid has become so common that it's almost a thing - Stupidism. "Trump is a stupidist" makes sense to me.

Vast swathes of pensioners didn't vote Tory until the last election and that was down to Labours total ineptitude in opposition and trying to derail the brexit vote, but that's another discussion.

I honestly don't know what to believe these days. It might put a stop to them keep raising the pension qualifying age but I doubt it.
The fact is that the CV has accidentally targeted those of us who are retired.

Is this a good thing for the economy?

For me, that is absolutely spot on.
