COVID-19 — Coronavirus

I see the infection rate in Germany has rose above 1 again, after slight easing of lockdown restrictions. I hope they can get it back under control or else it could be a strict lockdown again quicker than you know it. I'm sure the UK will be watching with a close eye what's happening there and everywhere else who's slightly eased restrictions.

Approximately 4,000 additional Covid-19 deaths for period up to 21 April.

ONS figures show 21,284 Covid deaths while the reported number up to that date was 17,337.
3,096 of those additional deaths were in care homes.

Pretty fucked up they're injecting monkeys with high doses of a virus that is killing people. No wonder there's nut-job animal activists.
Yeah I guess they should just try it on humans first before moving on to monkeys after initially proving its reasonably safe???!

and they were on about football coming back,i know theirs another thread but Borris needs to tell the FA where to go

This is a sobering report for people moaning about our Government under counting Corona Virus deaths and taking other Countries figures as the Gospel.

Indeed. 50-60% more deaths than the average in many places. At the moment we're undercutting the above figures by 10% or so.

Wasn't is specifically 4000 excess deaths?
Obviously many will relate to covid-19, but it didn't seem all of them.

About 3/4 (based on excess deaths - not quite sure, as he garbled it on tv) mention covid on the death certificate (same as week before)
40% of all deaths mention covid on the death certificate (same as week before)

Not sure tbf, just read that headline elsewhere. Need to have a proper look through the figures.

thanks, that's very interesting
Yes, it is. 15,000 per week is 2,000+ per day whichever way you look at it. So 1,000+ delta between that and our reported peak COVID-19 deaths. I wonder how many of that number were actually COVID-19 victums vs how many were just random or perhaps consequential, e.g. someone not going to A&E when then otherwise would have done.

Yeah I agree. More and more countries are starting to loosen restrictions a bit but its really important that each one of them keeps that rate below 1. The fact Germany is struggling to do that could be a game changer for the worse unless they manage to get it back under control.

Seems to be getting busier by the day out there. Traffic on the roads is noticeably higher, although the dip in weather may keep more inside.

Interesting news re Oxford vaccine but yep...human trials take some time.

i'd say that is extremely hard to ever know!! deaths from lack of treatment of other ailments is yet another factor at play

I have asked previously, but are these care home figures / outside of hospital deaths going to be added to the official number of deaths??. I think Belgium and a few other countries add them on
