Best wishes to you mate. Let us all know how you are getting on if you can.

Started feeling unwell on Tuesday, went and had a sniff of some of the wife's perfume, couldn't smell anything. Phoned the wife at work (she is a midwife) they sent her home and said we both needed testing ( her test was negative). Been in bed since then, massive temperature fluctuations either freezing cold or boiling hot, slept a lot. No cough yet, feel a bit better this morning, will let you know how I get on.

Saying it might not be a success isn't being pessimistic its the truth unfortunately.

I hope it does work but as ive said, manufacturing and giving it to the entire population isnt a quick job, hence my saying for the vast many of us we are a long way off getting a vaccine personally.
You said it was years away if ever. Imo that is a pessimistic rather than a realistic view. There are 40 odd other initiatives worldwide as well as Oxford, once one works it will be shared. Production will be worldwide. That is what science is saying, not years away if ever.

Dont watch her then leave that to those that appreciate her daily updates.

she is one of the best orators in the uk, a really good politician who speaks exceptionally well and also when interviewed under pressure manages to lift the pressure and remain cool.

However if you ( rightly) ask the government to allow you to attend uk government cobra meetings and they (rightly) allow you to do so the least you can do is respect that the uk government should announce the measures to the uk first.

Take it very easy blue, wishing you all the best

Bit more complicated than that due to devolved responsibility. FWIW, I dont believe she is playing politics. She wants a unified approach across the U.K., unless there are good reasons not to. Is she a member of Cobra? Are you sure?

Vallance and Fauci say we are 12-18 months away.

I think she attends them , that’s when she does her briefing after . I think the uk has a combined approach and I think it’s right she attends on Covid , I will ask dr google .

Scotland and Wales have devolved powers regarding Covid 19 strategies.

Fair enough but she didn't announce anything said it would be reviewed next week, then gave an opinion
“It may very well be too early, even this time next week, in any meaningful way, to safely lift any of the current restrictions.”
Though she could announce different restrictions if she wanted but has said she’d prefer to avoid doing so.
Any way best leave this for the other thread.

Hope you get well soon mate. My sister had it for a week and her hubby had it for the best part of 3 weeks and was really very unwell but thankfully now much better.

For the general population, probably.
If vaccines work, some vaccine will become available around Christmas. Who they give it too will be a huge debating point.

Should immediately go to the most vulnerable (over a certain age/comorbidities) and key workers. Key workers have totally earned a right to be first in the queue.
