Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I have notice that a lot of fans on this topic have been talking about 3 teams promoted with none going down. This just won't work because every week 1 team will have to have either a blank weekend or a mid week match without a fixture. If that is what the Premier League are considering, you have to either promote 2 or 4 clubs just for next season. That is if you are not going to relegate anyone from the Prem.

Doing that will also cause problems. The top 2 is okay as they would win promotion anyway. The question is how do you decide which club will be the 3rd one to come up. Which ever way is chosen it may lead to court cases throughout each division.

The best thing to do is declare the season as a whole null and void with no promotion and no relegation. That would apply throughout each division

that's why it has to be 19 home with fans or 19 without or its just a farce, obviously one works and the other kills the game
Totally agree for the integrity of the competition it has to be the same for all teams across the board. It's the same with VAR You cant have it for part of the Season and then ditch it.

So all the games are to be played at a neutral venue. So let's say all games to be played at St. James Park. So that will mean that if the players have to self isolate between games. Each team would have to have their own hotel. Which means that you have to have 20 hotels full booked for the duration till the Premier League is finished. Now assuming that with each team bring 30 players down plus all the coaching staff. Now assuming that they all have to be 2mtrs apart that would mean about 6 coaches per team. That is when it is starting to look completely stupid

The French basing it on points per game is bullshit. Either void the season or finish it when it's safe to do so. But teams being awarded a trophy when they haven't won it is bollocks, and teams getting relegated when they had a chance of escaping is also bollocks.

Liverpool fans seem to be in complete denial about this. The season will start fine and anyone who doesn’t want the season to go ahead hates Liverpool........

health, the players, fans and the almost impossible situation of trying to play a close contact sport don’t come into it.

give them the title if that’s what they want. I couldn’t care less right now and neither do most of the country

There is an article in the Guardian saying that the PL has started to buy testing machines at 36k apiece. As they can only do one test every two & a half hours the NHS isn't interested in them so there is loads of availability.

so at 300 plus people for a behind closed doors prem game, good luck with that one

that's 12 a day, nearly a month with one machine

Will the players and officials all be wearing masks? Luis Suarez isn’t going to like the taste of that? Be of benefit to Phil Jones though

To be honest, Liverpool deserve the title. I can’t stand them, but giving them the title isn’t the worst scenario. It would always be an award to me, they never actually won it. I don’t want the season resuming so they can mathematically win it. I don’t see the league being null and void, it’s to far gone for that and the media darlings are 25 points ahead.

Do they?.. The amount of favourable decisions they received both directly and indirectly suggests they needed considerable assistance in my book, so cannot agree they deserve it

Fuck Liverpool FC and this deserved tag.

Ask yourself would they be all for giving it to us or the Rags?

Not only is the answer no, these ****s are behind every plan to get us banned at any opportunity and they cheated by fucking hacking us.

They can get to fuck as they have won no league title because the points to play for still says they have won no league title.

I've said over and over, there's no such thing as fairness in football. Whichever way they do this, it won't be fair on someone. There was something on Sky Sports yesterday about a chairman apparently saying they won't force players to play, what if one or two guys who are the star players for a team say they won't take the risk? Is that fair on the team if this causes they to be relegated or lose out on a European place? If they cancel the season and award on PPG then there's teams that probably think they can still survive or still think they can get into Europe, is it fair on them? IF they restarted it and (not taking into account players getting ill) it really had a negative affect on Liverpool players to the point that they didn't win another game out of the remaining 9 and lost the league, would they be saying that's fair enough? Fairness in football is a myth, always has been. Either void it and start again or cancel next season, play the remaining 9 games when safe and then have the players doing fuck all till next summer, or plan the Euros in somewhere there.

I have just read that G Nev thinks we should take the PL abroad to somewhere there is no Coronavirus. Not sure if he's heard, but this is a GLOBAL pandemic, that means the whole world are affected. I'm not sure places that haven't had it (probably because nobody fucking goes there) or have got rid of it would want people coming in from abroad. Also, what would stop their population ignoring their own social distancing rules and the disease spreading again? It's all such a reach for something that isn't really that fucking important.
