Never forgave him for throwing Alan Rickman off the Nakatomi towers.
Nakatomi Towers was an answer to a quiz question last night. I couldn’t think of the name for the life of me

Another mad ****.
I think anyone who so wantonly and recklessly destroys his own country’s eco-structure, has to be mad.Is he mad or is he all in on the populist rhetoric like Trump(and Johnson to an extent) so to turn around now and agree with the ‘establishment’ now would be a political disaster
Like all cults, they end with the death of its devoted members.....
He’s actually more dangerous than Trump due to the destruction of the rainforest which will affect every person on the planet if he isn’t stopped.I think anyone who so wantonly and recklessly destroys his own country’s eco-structure, has to be mad.
Well you can swallow this fairytale of some righteous modern day Robin Hood running the Rio favela if it makes you happier. The Military Police outsourced control of neighbourhoods to cartels?
Although to be fair they are doing a better job than Bolsonaro so you can see their thinking.

Maybe it’s our destiny, mate - and humanity is ultimately fucked.I think the ‘argument’ goes, us Europeans are quite happy to have air conditioning but aren’t happy for Jose to chop a few trees down in order to farm so he can feed his family.
The whole world is fucked. There is no truth. It’s a flu, it will be gone by April, I knew it was a pandemic before anyone used the word pandemic - whilst it was Trump that said all that I imagine his Brazilian friend will have use similar terms
They clearly can’t all be true. But the support remains. Fox News hosts sit in their mansions because Fox HR won’t let them go to the studio but they are happy peddling the ‘open up’ country nonsense
How has it comes to this?

I fear we are too greedy and intelligent to ultimately survive as a species. Our lust for pleasure doesn’t help either.I’m 3 quarters of the way through a book called ‘Sapiens’, and I think you are right. Sooner or later, probably sooner humanity would have destroyed itself
If a once in a hundred year global pandemic can’t bring the world together, I’d suggest nothing can

The final characteristic is the most destructive of all.We destroy, kill, consume then justify it to ourselves. Not a good combination

Also you’ll be glad to know the State Government is in charge and not Bolsonaro.
Great book and I didn't think it painted a fatalistic outlook. Started reading Homo Deus, (his follow up) last night and it is fascinating that he talks a lot about epidemics across history. I think it was written in 2016, there or thereabouts and the parallels one can draw at this time are interesting.I’m 3 quarters of the way through a book called ‘Sapiens’, and I think you are right. It's almost like voting in far right populists who prefer propaganda to truth isn't a great idea when actual problems emerge. COVID seems a great way of measuring which world leaders are the most interested in truth and which are the most interested in spreading lies
We destroy, kill, consume then justify it to ourselves. Not a good combination
How pathetic is Bolsonaro, the virus has turned out to be rather more than the "little flu" he claimed it to be so now he's removed all historic covid-19 data from official government websites in some sort of pretence that they never existed. From now on only the previous day's figures will be published, sounds very much like those figures will be as reliable as the Chinese government's non-Wuhan data.

Why is it that the last people who should be anywhere near power are often the ones with all the power?
