COVID-19 — Coronavirus

All the people ignoring lock down, need to be aware that when the second wave hits us, there will be a shortage of some of the drugs that were available to the NHS in the first wave. So not just PPE but important lines of treatment will not be available in the long term. Our NHS Doctors, Nurses, there loved ones and families are suffering enough at the moment, without another challenge. I am. Wriiting this as I watch the whole of my street acting as if theres no lockdown. I also think that bringing back the beautiful game to early, has contributed to what I am now observing.

Sad thing is this virus has killed more people in this country than the Blitz did and unfortunately this twat of a disease is still dropping bombs :-(

A six-week-old baby has become one of the latest to die after testing positive for the coronavirus.

NHS England said the baby was among 332 people who have died after testing positive for the virus, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in England's hospitals to 22,764.

The oldest patient was 103, and 22 of the 332 people - aged between 40 and 96 - had no known underlying health conditions

Public Health Wales has said 1,090 people have died after testing positive for coronavirus, an increase of 28 on Thursday's figures.

The number of deaths in Northern Ireland has increased by five to 427 and in Scotland, the number of deaths among those confirmed to have had COVID-19 has increased by 49 to 1,811

The number of deaths involving COVID-19 that have been registered across the UK now stands at 33,021, according to the Office for National Statistics
The underlying health problem should be followed by that they know of because loads of us could have problems with us that we know fuck all about. I haven't been to the doctors for years

Loads of families outside celebrating VE day here. Kids, parents and grandparents, all in very close proximity with the odd intermingling from other families and extra visitor here and there. I expect a large spike when this all kicks in.

It’s utter madness. We have come so far and some light can be seen at the end of the tunnel yet the mindless minority will put us back weeks and they will be the first to moan that their freedom and human rights are being violated. Report the lot of them!

Pretty much the entire contents of the old peoples home across the road from me are having a nice sit down and chat outside today for VE day, about 20 of them. Clearly they have "attempted" social distancing by putting the chairs apart from each other, but they are realistically about 2 feet from each other and all leaning in to hear what the person next to them is saying. Luckily there hasn't been any news of care homes being an issue in this pandemic so it should all be fine...

Sorry but you cannot take this day away from them

That's pretty shocking and the worst thing is the virus appears to be just as random. It affects some people but not others with perhaps a lot of bad luck involved. I think the random element is what's scary. It does mostly impact older people but younger people can't afford to be complacent.

Yes, I expect the care home is as far as they know covid free, doubt inside they would be all confined to their rooms, and this will be important to them.

Exactly and once you get to a certain age who knows how many more
VE days you will get to see. They went through a hell of a lot worse than anyone that's moaning about it on here, let them enjoy their day no harm is being done.

I wouldn't want to "take the day away from them", I'd rather they didn't all die in 3 weeks because they were unable to sit a bit further away from each other. The virus doesn't give a shit if your parents won a war on this day 75 years ago, nor is there any reason not to just sit 2 meters apart instead of about 2 feet (these people are 70's and 80's, at most, they aren't WW2 veterans)

Ok, I'll hold you to that, when there's 0 deaths from Covid in 2 weeks I'll come back and congratulate you for your foresight.

Tramadol. You¨ll feel great, you can drink like a fish and the hangover¨s very minimal. But they¨re addictive little bastards. Very addictive.

I was on them nobody told me how additive they were, quite a withdrawal when you stop taking them.

The war shaped their lives, some of them would have been sent away from their families, they are away from their families now, indoors they are next to each other unless any of them are ill,i do not want to break the hearts of the old who lost family in the war that liberated us

Well in about 2 weeks, the way plenty of people are behaving, Covid will take every day away from some of them.
Immerse yourself in the progs of the war on at the moment and tell them they cannot have this day together to remember, street parties have been held for 75 yrs, this means everything to them

I've studied it enough in my time. If anything they should be the best behaved and be most understanding because they've lived it before. Their relatives gave their lives to save theirs so they could live and prosper, not wilfully give it away for a picnic.

Hitler would have had a field day if we'd all sat out having a picnic during the bombing. The bombs are dropping all day the closer people get together. Today is VE day, two weeks time will end up ventilator day and it's so unnecessary and needless and not worth it in any sane person's mind, especially when you owe your life to the sacrifice of others who gave theirs to save yours. It's just ungrateful in my view, but we know we don't agree.
