Don't know who the police representive of the met was just now on sky news but:

He did tell me that this virus is like no other as you cannot see it.

Used the word respective, because his members were always respective of the public.

People of Londoin in safe hands then.

Ha. I thought your post was fair. I was being a little bitch admittedly. I'm aware I'm quite lucky. I saved quite aggressively for two years to buy a house. I'm living off that money now as there won't be any house buying any time soon. It is what it is - I'm aware most can't do that. Broadly speaking, you are right of course about businesses, and like many I'm really not against easing the lockdown. I just want them to do it properly and at the right time. I really want the tories to succeed here cos lives are more important than any political squabbling. Just want them to be honest with us for once as it rarely feels like they are. Everything feels secretive constantly. Spin and propaganda. Treat us like adults and not leak all these shitty messages via the press and then constantly confuse/conflate the issue.

Get organised, get that app working, get the testing above 100k daily, do antibody tests to work out where we are in terms of immunity, sort PPE stocks, protect what's left of the poor bastards in care homes and explain how they're going to make businesses look after staff and enforce it. If they sort all that out i'll be a happy man. That'll be the best we can manage now in a bad situation. I don't think its too much to ask either. However, I'm expecting vague bullshit later that doesn't really solve these issues. Hopefully im wrong. If i'm not, i'll carry on calling Boris a ****, and i'm not particularly arsed if that upsets his fanboys.
 
It's quite obvious why the slogan is being changed: People are staying at home to protect the NHS and are dying as a result.
You still have to be alert as to what you do but people have to start going to hospital for normal health care and we have to start to open up the economy as well or we're all fucked.
I hope Boris explains it as such. We need to change the mindset.

By the way I am not extreme left wing - just a general Labour voter. As was said earlier somewhere on here if you aren't pro- Johnson that doesn't make you a momentum member.

Any thats politics and this isn't supposed to be.

Having seen the R rate rise above one with a relaxation of lock down in Germany and 3 Brighton staff proving positive I'd be worried about any easing at the moment - best time to judge will be in 2 to 3 weeks. If we get a spike following peoples VE Day celebrations where many many people seemed to ignore the existing advice then they need to think really seriously are we trustworthy of a relaxation?

Furthermore everything I have seen thusfar makes me think public transport, pubs and eateries and many more things that re-open observing social distancing will not be commercially viable - a puzzle within a conundrum but the wrong answer in this quiz show doesn't mean you have lost everything you have won so far it could cost you your life

There are 2 industries that have suffered more than any throughout this pandemic. Hospitality and aviation. Those 2 sectors are already fucked and will continue to be whilst social distancing remains until a vaccine. They will be planning already for a new type of operation that allows them to trade in some capacity. 3 more weeks of lockdown, or however long it may have been, will not matter.

Under industry has continued. Many people have still worked throughout and I’d argue most office based jobs are roles which can, and have been, conducted from home.

So I don’t buy your point of view.

Separately, the biggest issue with the new wording and branding if you like, is that it now puts the onus on us as a nation to make decisions we were previously told we couldn’t make. That being going to see family. As I’m sure you have seen, people have already been flouting the lockdown and this new angle will only exacerbate that situation further.

Personally, I think the message is crystal clear. Boris and his cabinet want the above to happen. It is a baby step way to switching the ignition back on. They are actively seeking to get people out of their homes and a return to some sort of normality. I disagree with that stance, I think a further 3 weeks of the same message as the last 6 were required. However, I’m no medical scientist and would assume that is where government are taking their next steps from.

It’s a loose and designed message, one that enables us to go back into a more resolute lockdown should that be required. Honestly, I think we are testing the water here. I think we are loosening the shackles just a little to see if the prisoner makes an attempt to bolt, if you see what I mean. If he does, we tighten up again.

Agree with you last paragraph totally, this countries economy is mostly based on services etc for a reason that is best left on another thread, my point was that if people don't understand what Alert is then they may as well join the fuckwits that don't understand what lockdown is.
 
The northwest has the lowest drop rate in cases and isn't really changing, with the highest number of cases now being up here, many local politician and mayors think any idea of changing tge remit of the lockdown in the region for now would be catastophic.

No regional mayor or respesentative from regional councils have be invited to any discussions or had imput into what happens next.

Basically they are told when we are with a few hints before that it is impossible to plan from.
