The Corrs did a good acoustic version of thisEverybody Hurts - REM
Add that to Decades and Leave Me Alone and you’ve got three sad songs that are also three of the best album closers ever. All by Manc bands and recorded in a timespan of just a few years.
I cant post vids but if you google Nina Simone - Alone Again Naturally you will find possibly the weirdest but saddest song ever.
If you are old enough to remember Gilbert O'Sullivan, he wrote the original where in the first verse he was going to throw himself of a tower and commit suicide ! well Nina changed the words (or someone did and she sang them about her Dad dying.
A song with propensity to penetrate the soul of mortal man. An absolute masterpiece and beautiful beyond the chosen word and I have not listened to this composition for five long years. Voted by numerous groups as the greatest build in classical music and who am I too argue:
Adagio: With the Zagreb philomonic orchestra:
Bellismo Hauser Bellisimo !

Wow Mr Bob, that, whilst very good, is very sombre music, not perhaps sad which is why I say sombre - or deep even. It's still playing as I type.
