Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Last Wednesday, Deeney was in a meeting with the Premier League, other team captains and medical experts.

He said: "My problem was in the meeting, I asked very simple questions.

"For black, Asian and mixed ethnicities, they're four times more likely to get the illness, they're twice as likely to have long lasting illnesses - is there anything extra, additional screening, heart stuff to see if people have got problems with that? No. OK, well I feel that should be addressed.

"I can't get a haircut until mid-July but I can go and get in a box with 19 people and go and jump for a header and nobody could answer the questions, not because they didn't want to, just because they don't know the information.

"So I said if you don't know the information, why would I put myself at risk?"

Chapeau to Troy Deeney
Although I think he’s wrong about why they didn’t answer his question, they know the answer perfectly well but they don’t want to admit it.

but we know the club (liverpool) having to be named title winners and not be handed it ? and they need to be seen to win it by playing behind closed doors and then they think nobody could question it ???? the thing is its not the same even if the fans was allowed back into the grounds the gap between the games is 3 months and nobody will be up to speed and ready and fully match fit, its just a big mess and it will never be called proper title winners
I've gotta be honest, it would be fun to spend all of next season calling them the Champions* or the "Champions".

Just heard that any players that test positive today , they & their clubs won’t be named . These cnuts really are a law unto themselves , what’s the reason for this secrecy ?

So they can have a quick dabble with the fixtures if required - after all this was only ever about getting the Dippers the title and United into the CL. Any fixture change will be passed off as TV coverage related.

id think if/when it starts Liverpool will be champions within 4 days, a sat fixture and a tuesday, that will see them over the line as soon as possible

Just heard it on the national news , why the secrecy ?

crazy that the premier league are wanting this and why bother in the first place in checking players ?? you can bet all it would take is one united or liverpool player to catch it and the season will be over there and then

greedy fuckers have sold our game down the river and money is being put first then health and why ?? yes that right because somebody sitting in the other part of the world want to watch the game and will pay £19.99 subscription ?? its crazy and am lost to football for good and only man city will get my money from now on and use free internet streams for away games

Both the dippers and the rags will have 2 games against bottom half of the table teams just to ensure the objective is met under the guise of TV scheduling.

Didn't souness say something similar the other day, if he tested positive he would keep it schtum.

It isn't a shock that an organisation such as the FA and the premier league who cheat, fiddle, fix, adjust outcomes of matches/seasons would do something as disgusting as hiding a positive covid test result just to get the ball rolling.

Fuck me they really must be skint and really really must be running out of pennies.

I'm out for good if this shit is true, horrible selfcentred ****s.

So now we have over 44,000 deaths due to Covid19. This is now the new update figure. However it is still safe to play football. If Scotland can call it off why can't we do the same thing. It is not worth risking a players health just to try and finish the season.

I still wonder if the players will be covered with their insurance should they catch it while either training or playing.

dont think its about being skint, said it before and now again,VAR has been outstanding in putting Liverpool on the top, can you imagine the kind of money thats backed them from the start on the Asia markets, money that will find its way to top representatives of the FA and premiership,we all know UEFA are bent, its throughout the whole game, but to get there money they have to complete the season or no payout

ballino why worry some how it will get leaked. Just like those clubs in Italy, Spain and Germany. The problem will be if there are 2 or more clubs say 1 or 2 days before they are due to start. The clubs do a press release and say sorry, we can't play for 2 weeks due to players self isolating. I wonder what would happen then.

It’s weird that no one in the media ever talks about the accuracy of the tests! It’s around 70% accurate! All players staff need to be tested every day for a week and it be negative before any player considers coming back just to train!
Indeed..

Posted a couple of weeks ago about this and all the other 'unknowns' that you and other Blues on here have touched upon. Organising and running each game behind closed doors would require involving between 300-400 people on every occasion. You can test people all week prior to it happening but if one of them gets infected on the way into a game and passes on that infection, bingo!, you've got a potential local spike right there that could spread within a week.

Can the Premier League guarantee that this will not happen? No, I didn't think so.. And don't even get me going on the prospect of people gathering together near grounds where the games are to be played, or in large numbers to watch the games at home..

Even the most cursory glance over websites such as the WHO's and The Lancet's to see what the research papers published thus far state will tell you that the biggest fear of all the medics/researchers/scientists et al involved is for a 2nd wave to be allowed to occur. It scares the 'bejaysus' out of them. We really shouldn't be doing anything that might exacerbate the horrendous death rate we have already suffered as a nation.

There is still a huge amount of work to be done to get on top of this virus until we find a vaccine and we all will have to play our part. Pity the g*bsh*tes at the Premier League are threatening that national effort..

Is that a myth these betting markets or am I being Mr Gullible again?
I always thought it was just a bit of finger pointing.
