Never been into flight sims before but looking forward to the new Microsoft one coming out this year. Looks incredible.
"Flight Simulator will feature Asobo's in-house developed game engine, and leverage Bing Maps data, accessing over two petabytes of data from the cloud on demand. Azure AI analyzes map to generate photorealistic 3D models of buildings, trees, terrain, and so on. This allows the simulator to depict most parts of the world in 3D photo-realism, and the other parts in high definition. There will also be realistic physics and weather systems, and utilization of real-world weather data. An example used at E3 2019 was that if it was raining somewhere in real life, it would be raining in-game. Individual clouds will have their own behaviours and they will impact aircraft performance depending on its location within the system. Asobo has created their own flight model engine, allowing thousands of surfaces and 3D forces and moments to be fully simulated. Flight Simulator will populate roads with vehicles, water will flow realistically based on wind direction, grass will have individual grass blades and trees will have individual leaves, creating the illusion of a living world. It will feature over two million cities and towns and more than 40,000 real-world airports."
I fly xplane 11 and finally got round to building a monster rig to do it on. Ryzen 5 3600x and a RTX 2080 super and it's incredible. Can't wait for Microsoft's return as it looks truly next gen in terms of visuals. Meanwhile RDR2 looks simply incredible and plays beautifully as does GTA V.
Consoles have their place but PC gaming on a high end rig is something else.
Two questions. Do you assume the version that comes out on Xbox will be a total compromise? And if you don't mind me asking, how much does it cost for the kind of PC you are talking about?
Anybody got a Switch, we’ve bought one fir our 7 year old daughter, we have just dance 2020, Luigi mansion and mario kart. Does anyone have that fitness thing is it any good?
Thanks for that. I was hoping that internet speed might be as important as anything with the environment being streamed. Fortunately my broadband is quick - around 170 mbps, so hopefully that will make up a bit for the fact I'll probably end up playing it on an Xbox.Graphically the new Xbox one x is next gen so will be a beast but will it match PC specs? Never imo. I spent £750 on my card and there where 2 cards above it, more powerful and o we £1k and £2k respectively and we have the RTX 3000 series due out this year. It just never stops. All in and I built my own system to save money I did £2200 in without breaking a sweat but it's high end and will do me for a long time with only the CPU possibly being upgraded as the Ryzen 4000 chips are out soon. It's crazy money mate. On the new MSFS 2020 it will be both specs and bandwidth that will give the top performance. It's all cloud based, huge amounts of ortho textures being constantly downloaded and they say it will take 50mb's a sec connection to really ramp it up.

Microsoft have confirmed Flight Simulator will be available to play on all current Xbox consoles(Xbox one s, xbox one X, Xbox one series X) however there will be graphical downgrades.I've no doubt the Xbox one x experience will be incredible mate. Don't see it running on the current gen of consoles well though if at all.
Saw Fallout 4 on sale for £9 and got it. What a game, best £9 i've spent in a long time.
I loved that game as well. It didn’t get a great reception from the gaming community for whatever reasons (okay the performance of the game can be poor) but for me Fallout with decent gun controls was always going to be a winner.
There's two ways to Flight Sim 2020. It's a bit complicated but I'll try to explain in the easiest way possible.Flight Sim does look pretty demanding spec wise. Even with my 2070 super I’m just under the ‘ideal spec’.
That's easy to explain; New Vegas was Fallout. Made by some of the original creators.I don't think they ever let go of Las Vegas. Was a great game IMO.
New Vegas was daft, right at the start they place you in a valley that you can only go through in the middle, but they dont want you heading straight to Vegas so they cut the valley off by placing a load of super fast, super strong claw thingys that are unbeatable at the start, forcing you to head south and around the edge of the map. Thats poor game design. By the time I got to Vegas I couldnt give a shit about the place. And it was tiny. That's easy to explain; New Vegas was Fallout. Made by some of the original creators.
Fallout 4, whilst entertaining, just wasn't a Fallout game many of us were hoping for.
They had a shoestring budget and made it in 10 months. New Vegas was supposed to be huge but the limitations of the consoles weren't capable so they had to scale it down. On PC it wouldn't have been too much of an issue but Bethesda wanted a multi-platform release.New Vegas was daft, right at the start they place you in a valley that you can only go through in the middle, but they dont want you heading straight to Vegas so they cut the valley off by placing a load of super fast, super strong claw thingys that are unbeatable at the start, forcing you to head south and around the edge of the map. The first way(and the way MS want you to play it) is what they are calling "Live" so the whole world is being streamed to your computer ( that's why you need a powerful pc and fast internet) cities, airports (44,000 of them) streamed all in real time using 3d modelling via bing maps. Even down to which runway is being used for takeoffs/landings. The biggest thing about that is the weather will 100% real. If it's raining in Manchester and your going to land or take off then it'll be raining in the game, not only that but wind, atmospheric pressure and cloud formations will be accurate.
True, I had no intention of going straight there but I did try out of curiosity, not to mention that your main objective is to see Benny in Vegas as a matter of emergency, but to have you start the game a stones throw away from Vegas but force you all the way round was silly. I had 'Go see Benny in Vegas' at the top of my to do list for weeks. Even now after more than 10 years, I still remember 'Go see Benny in Vegas'.They had a shoestring budget and made it in 10 months. Also, the whole point of a Fallout experience isn't that you can just go straight to the goal, you're meant to interact with the numerous surviving, post nuclear communities, learn about the issues and then be faced with moral choices. It's an RPG, not a GTA clone. The whole purpose of the game is to play a roll in a post-nuclear setting and see how humanity has developed.
You can go straight to New Vegas, you'll just be met with Giant Radscorpions, Cazadors and Deathclaws. But there's nothing physically stopping you. A character with a high sneak skill can get there without too much difficulty. The allure of Fallout is that it lets you play how you want. FO4 did not offer that flexibility. I HAD to care about a missing child, which lets be honest, most people forgot all about after the first 3 hours collecting tin cans, wood and wonderglue.
If you want a simple open sandbox, go here, bang bang shoot shoot, more power to you. But to those of us long term fans of the series, FO4 was a bit of a let down. It was fun, but it didn't provide a genuine Fallout experience, unlike New Vegas, which delivered in spades and was more like the originals.
