George Floyd murder | Clashes between US police and protestors

Apologies if this comes off as ignorant but it seems to me being a black person in the USA is a far scarier reality than being a black person in any other 1st world country. I mean I imagine there are issues for any minority everywhere but this seems a whole different level. It's so odd that a country can be so progressive and regressive in equal measure.

Its been that way in the USA for centuries and the hypocritical bastards have the nerve to call out the likes of China and Russia when they are just as bad if not worse than those whom they call out.

As for George floyd, well that has to be the fastest autopsy ever lol! Remember the guy that was shot while eating Ice cream in his home, yeah the autopsy also tried to blame the victim, same thing in this case.

An interesting angle here however is the case of Mohammed Noor and Justine Damond, happened in the same city of Minnesota. look that case up and see how the american justice system swooped into action! for the first time ever cops on all corners condemned Mohammed Noor's actions, the right wing for the first time ever stood in support of a victim murdered by a cop, Mohammed Noor sentenced to 25years, Justine Damond's family settled 20million usd.

Rightfully so

Rightfully so

Exactly but its funny how in THIS particular case we also have real time VIDEO evidence and some how the police department AND the justice system are trying to sweep it under the carpet. Mohammed Noor / Justine Darmond case was a lot more complicated as there were no video evidence and his defense was that it was late at night and she ran towards his car so he felt threatened, now I don't agree with him but at least that was a reasonable defense of some sort, however for the first time ever, a cop's defense fell on deaf ears, the police union, judicial system and the conservative people / media outlets all called for Mohamed Noor's head and he was swiftly sentenced!

George Floyd / Derek Chauvin case is the simplest case EVER! what WAS / IS Mr Chauvin's defense? what threat does a man in cuffs and on the ground pose to FOUR cops? This should be a walk over for the justice department and the easiest way for the Police force to regain the trust of the black community but it seems like they are actually making an effort to deliberately spite the black community, its like one big middle finger to the community! Coming together to say "yeah we killed him, what are you going to do about it? FUCK YOU!"

I am not for violent protests but someone one said "the price for peace is vigilance"- The black community while striving for peace and acceptance have made the fatal mistake of forgetting the part about being vigilant, right now it seems like they are slowly but surely waking up ! No Justice, No peace!

Spot on! That country is a disgrace. It’s a bigger danger to the world and it’s own citizens than Russia is to the world and its own citizens, any day of the week.

We think Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery in the US all those years back, but it’s still there.

Instead of holding slaves with them working on plantations, they are slaves to the system in prison.

Did anyone manage to watch Simon Reeves’ Americas when it was on last year? He was chatting to a guy who was saying the cops would pull you up about minor things like not having matching curtains in different windows in your house, or having something the cops would deem “too big” dangling from your rear view mirror in your car... knowing that a certain chunk of those pulled up would not be able to pay the fine, or knowing that some people would have a string of these minor offences, and they’d spiral into trouble from there and end up serving time.

While inside, they are made to make mass produced items for the country. From bullets to assembling engines, all done in the prison system, which is unbalanced in how many black people they have inside compared to their percentage of the population in society.

It’s modern day US slavery and the rest of the world doesn’t say a dicky bird to them about it.

This isn’t even touching in the Police brutality and murder towards black people there. Just on the ridiculous minor offences that is where they get a huge chunk of their arrests.

I think the problem is that America tells the outside world how how it is "the city on a shining hill" and the world believes it. And America believes it.

They are to told they all equal under the eyes of their Creator. They pledge allegiance to its flag, every morning, a belief system that brainwashes them. They drill into themselves to be better than anyone else and we see this in their armies. They sing part of a national anthem that was, originally, designed to factor in its White supremacy.

And yet, despite this America has so MUCH promise.

This 'promise' is what Black people have held on to and, within its system, denied over decades and centuries. Merely equality; to be treated as fellow Human Beings. At this moment in time segregation exists within the makeup of its society; in the mindset of the skin of privilege. In a way it can't be helped as when you grow up and you see everything built around geared towards you, unconscious bias is a real thing.

Just look at Hollywood, for example: it has only in the last few years realised that colour shouldn't matter in a lead role. Fear over whether a dark skin will produce its economy of power and yet, we've seen how amazing allowing people of diversity ("Black Panther") to shine can bring joy to an audience.

And this is why millennials, as a whole, will have my utmost respect. The new White understanding and conversation is what America needs to actually BE progressive, not promise it.

Out with the old, in with the new.

Sorry for the rant.

This has been mentioned on numerous occasions! I just wish the conspiracy theorists out there paid more attention to things like this instead of lizard people! The true cold blooded reptiles are these blood thirsty hate-filled evil Americans! Bastards blew Iraq up for oil and then turned around and said they were bringing them freedom, did the same thing in Libya and are about to do the same in Venezuela and the rest of the world just fold their hands and watch, if this was some other nation, america would have called up some weak British / EU leaders and forced them into forming some kind of united front to attack that tyrant nation.

When the city of Minneapolis has a death rate of 13x for Black than White, you can understand the rioting.

As for the businesses burning, some of those people are the community life blood:

Good post about the Gandhi Mahal restaurant.

Sobering comparison.

I don't think it was. Possibly they said that more black people are killed than white people, and that was picked up on. But certainly a disproportionate number of black people are killed by cops. For white people it hovers around the 400 mark per year, whereas for black people, it's around 200. But there are just under 6 times as many white people as black people in the US. Unless I'm missing a definition here and 'patrol cops' refers to a particular subset of the data.

Thanks I'm with Stupid. I haven't find the info that was weaponised in the Presidential campaign (whether it was wrong or right) but I did see this for the overall position that endorses what you say.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/585152/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-race/

It might be coincidence or not but the number of white people killed by police has fallen during Trump's watch but it hasn't for black and Hispanic people. The figures for all ethnic groups are pretty gruesome.

@Bigga what Cenk said in that video is 100% accurate, Obama had the chance to push for major reforms unfortunately he was more concerned with the sexual diversity agenda rather than fixing the racial injustice which has always and would always be the bigger problem facing the divided states of america unless someone does something about it!

A load of young kids looking for a protest and clouding the serious issues .

This 100% it's the same rent a mob that was doing the rounds before the last election, loads of Mexican flags rucksacks and white liberals. It's masking this terrible murder (Because that's what it was) the focus should be on bringing the officer and his pals to book and bringing about systemic change so that American police try to kill nobody.

Fucking A.

People, who support the 'peaceful' Obama(which, in itself is a real joke with his indiscriminate bombing in areas of the Middle East) just don't get it.

At least under #45, you get to see the naked truth.

Under that tw@, Pres O, he presented the civil face of Black leadership whilst doing FA.

THAT is more of a betrayal to the Black community.
