Leadership right there.

It's well and good to lecture people on what is right and wrong now that social unrest has boiled over and exploded. The time to be a firm leader for the suffering population was literally at any point before yesterday.

I think everyone understands rioting and destroying property is wrong but if peacefully kneeling was met with a wild, aggressive backlash, if peacefully marching was either ignored (at best) or outright ridiculed and mocked (at worst), then it stands to reason the population will feel nothing less than violence will get the point across that people have had enough.

The mayor of St Pauls says everyone arrested in his city last night was from out of state and it appears law enforcement are linking some of the arson and violence back to white supremacist groups.

You can definitely see that lots of the videos being posted of the damage being done were instigated by young white males with black citizens pleading for them to stop. Such a sad state of affairs when legitimate protests are undermined to perpetrate violence.

To the idiots who say "all lives matter":

The ones I have seen on TV look like white liberals and black people, the ones that came out in the US elections. Rucksacks everywhere as they are shipped in from all over, it's standard procedure in the US now.

What the media are doing is making a very bad situation a lot worse.

Keisha Bottoms has been an outstanding leader for her city. Really easy to come out with the wise ass smart after the events comments. Imho whatever she had said either before or after wouldn’t have stopped events. You need to be looking a lot higher up the food chain to achieve that sort of impact with your words; y’know, like maybe the very top.

Which is what this protest is becoming isn't it? It's not about what it's about any more it's another Trump protest.

Must be liberals if they have rucksacks eh.

I nearly added the caveat to the original post that I don't know Keisha Bottoms' record as a mayor and that my comment wasn't a direct response to her personally but more of a broad response to the condescending finger wagging and the *many* loud voices that "rioting is bad".

I think the middle ground in America was lost in 2016 when an extremist got voted in, sadly.

Sadly I would agree with you there, as I said it's a battleground and one that's going to end badly IMO. The point at hand is the peoples control of the police and how they kill too many people, they've done it before Trump and they will do it after Trump if people don't pull together and demand it.

No, I disagree, The current president has just expedited matters.

I'm going to post a clip by David Doel, who cites the brilliant Dr Cornel West as part of the clip. Dr West burns Obama, but not by name and both commentators show why this chaos is happening and how it got here.

I think it's worth the watch...

I'm sure you posted this as an 'alternative viewpoint' (I know this as I spent 10 mins listening to some of it), but this has moved beyond "just" the killing of Black people. This has become a societal fight of the disenfranchised to get recognition as Human Beings.

That is why you see Black, White, Latinos and even the disabled take to the streets.
