Does anyone on here know why saying all lives matter could cause such a negative reaction? I seemingly rather naively said it and got a load of shit for it.

Because it's almost always used as a way to try and delegitimize Black Lives Matter and portray it as divisive and problematic. The key question you need to ask is whether you've ever seen anyone say it at any time other than when BLM is trending. It's kinda like all of those blokes on International Women's Day who ask "When's International Men's day?" but then when it actually is International Men's Day are nowhere to be found.

This is the problem though. People will react based on the common usage of such things, and other people can use them fairly innocently and get caught in the crossfire. You live and learn, I guess.

I was simply about to explain it as "Black Lives Matter... Too".

Jrock has the right meaning behind it and his quote highlights what I was going to say, in reality. It's not about "being highlighted at the moment". It's about the complete ignorance of Black lives being snuffed out in any way they liked and cops continuing to not be charged for it.

It wasn't highlighted on the news as a problem, but parroted as per information they were given to blow away the 'problem' and White America got on with their daily lives.

That was the main gist of it.

There is a larger problem here. American Police don't just kill black people. They are, on the whole, pretty indiscriminate about who they shoot.

Of course black lives matter, but then so do all the others slain by what is, in most states, a vigilante force.

Cops kill people. Cops resign. Cops don't get prosecuted.

That's the larger issue. American Police forces in general.
