And I was one of them. I held my nose and voted for labour as , although I accepted it might mean a delay or even a cancelling, of Brexit , I could not tolerate voting conservative.

Despite the labour leadership sneering at me from their million pound pads, despite the labour leadership throwing their lot in with the banks, the CEOs and big business at the deliberate expense of their core voter, I voted for them anyway. Their wasn't a socialist alternative.

Guess which way I would have voted in any 2nd referendum? Their were millions like me chief. Millions.

2nd ref, 3rd ref, 4th ref. It matters not.

On this one binary issue the working class still has a voice as powerful as those who sneer at them. And it's evidently driving the sneering classes crazy.
That may turn out to be the used-to-be-working class. That's sorrow not sneering.

Picture the scene, immigration desk, at port of entry to the UK before leaving.

Immigrant: "please tell me why you are making it harder for me, an African doctor, to come and live in your country and serve the NHS than you are for those Europeans over in *that* queue. Those people have told you they have no job to go to, no skills to offer that you don't already have in abundance, and they also do not speak your language. Why are you letting them in without question but making it so hard for me?"

Immigration officer: "that's obvious sir. It's because I'm not a racist"

Why would any remainer want to keep out

Millions of Brexit voters voted for equality for all. Millions of remain voters voted for the status quo.

I think I can work out why.
I think you're calling all Remainers racist.

Seriously, why would any Remainer want to keep out an African doctor? This argument is just ludicrous.

You must be a WUM.

Of course in all these spectacularly stupid hot takes over freedom of movement and African doctors (country unknown) looking down at European peasantry (to use a certain posters description) getting waved through customs he or she will have company next year as English doctors will be forced to wait alongside him, or her, in their efforts to enter France or Germany. Even those doctors *gasp* who are white may have to seethe in silence as entire families of the European unwashed are given priority access over him or her.

Does this mean we good and true Englishmen or women will be discriminated against on our own continent? Will no one rescue us from this calamity?

That could turn out to be the most stupid post ever written in this thread. Well done...

Come on now Vic old chum, surely you're not suggesting that anyone on any side of this debate would stoop to calling their opponents racist?

I cannot imagine that would ever happen. And if it did, even once, or maybe a few hundred times over the last few years, I'm sure our erstwhile mods would reprimand them for coarsening the debate. If not the mods, then Ric would for sure.

Have some faith in bluemoon mate. It's a forum for all sorts.

And I'm not suggesting a remainer would want to keep out an African doctor, merely pointing out that FOM makes it very difficult to treat the African doctor as fairly as we treat the Italian barista, or the lovely polish girl who serves the busy middle class their sandwiches in Pret.

You see, in my world view, all men are equal. And it ends there. I don't believe that some men are more equal than others, and certainly not based on the passport they were lucky enough to be born entitled to.

Obviously I accept that this makes me a racist neo fascist. I shall have to go to reeducation classes where I shall learn that some people should have an easier time immigrating to the UK based on their passport, not their skillset. When I have accepted this fact, then and only then will I dare to call myself a non-racist. Like you.

So if you "don't believe that some men are more equal than others, and certainly not based on the passport they were lucky enough to be born entitled to" why would you want any control on immigration?

Lots of Africans in Pret. Suits me but are you absolutely sure that's what most Leavers were voting for?

I'm trying to relate that to a couple we know. I can't recall why she went to Germany but she became a dentist there, then came back to the UK with her German husband.

Let me be very clear, I'd have no personal problem with full FOM for the whole world. But in a practical sense this would be virtually impossible to make work in a relatively small island like Britain.
So for me, if we can't take everybody, we equally can't say to one section of the world "you can come in with virtually no questions asked" whilst saying to the rest of the world "but you'll have to jump through a few extra hoops". The hoops should be the same size for everybody.

As for your last point, I don't claim to speak for anybody else, I wouldn't be so presumptuous but I can tell you hand on heart I have spoken to people who voted remain because "the more Europeans we let in the less space for blacks". I'm sensible enough to realise these did not speak for all remainers anymore than some racist prick in a pub speaks for me. Or any other leave voters I know.

Then why did you state "the racism was implied..." when you know you're not talking to anyone like you've just described?

I'm not ignoring, I sipmply don't care what the likes of Fargy-bargy has/had to say because I was more interested in the arguments Tony Benn made while he was alive. He was much more instrumental in convincing me that the EU was heading down a dark path, but you don't care about that do you.

If you genuinely believe leavers were manipulated and lied to, the same can be applied to scores of remainers who voted because they believe Cameron and Osbourn's fear campaign. I'm guessing you haven't read the article again? It speaks of how racist incidents have been doubling ever year SINCE 2013! It's not 'brexit' related.

All that's happened is that people who were racist before brexit, and will likely be afterwards, are feeling emboldened. It's nothing connected to the vote itself or people's intentions.

Read your goddamn links before you link them, FFS.

EDIT: What a surprise, you've ignored the response to this as well...
He will always ignore such well worded rebuttals of the nonsense he rummages around the Internet to find

The single most stupid argument ever made by Brexiteers. This argument turns the stupid up to eleven. It is even more stupid when made by people who themselves live in a union of nations that enjoys unrestricted freedom of movement between those nations.
That you are unable to grasp basic and simple facts is entirely on you

I'm not making the stupid claim or argument Bob, nor am i calling you silly childish names.

In the exact same way the SNP are not racists for disagreeing with Westminster rule and interference, brexit voters are not racist for disagreeing with the EU/Brussels rule and interference.

Anyone claiming other, especially when they have posts on here defending the SNP stance should take a look at what it is they are trying to claim.

We are back at day one of the ref campaign and some bright spark on the remian side says excitedly...."lets use racism as a tool here to shame people into voting our way, it will definitely work" and still to this day, some of you think its a winner?

Honestly Bob, it isnt and never will be. Time to think again.
I am afraid your suggestion will fall on deaf ears

He has long since become stuck in a rut and is unable to learn new tunes

You just know when someone starts with ‘Let me be very clear’ then they are going to talk bollocks.

You voted to remove the right to freedom of movement within Europe from your fellow citizens because your average Frenchman can come to England easier than a chap from Zaire? How does removing our rights help Wayne? The fucker still can’t get into England any easier and now we are bolloxed when moving to France or elsewhere in Europe. I guess when Wayne is waiting in customs at least he will have Pierre and Helmut for company. Paddy from Ireland is still able to waltz through mind, in fact Paddy has come up golden on this as he can still move freely throughout Europe including the UK.

You should get onto that and put Paddy on the shit list. Wayne is going to be well pissed about Paddy. Let him wait in the queue with the rest of the fucking world.

I just hope this principle of ‘if the rest of the world can’t have it then no one can’ never gets applied to fucking Christmas. Or democracy.

You are sat behind a keyboard, are you English or even British or just a bot ? not really sure on all accounts, may even be a Dipper... do you even watch football or support City ? strange one you are. Back into oblivion for me now, Ta.

Probably for the best.

The political declaration only got through because it was balanced in the EU's favour enough to keep the 27 happy, and non-binding enough to keep the ERG happy. None of this is a surprise.
Makes me laugh when I read Remainers bleating about the PD

The work to develop th WA and PD was advanced when the spineless May and Robbins were running things and May was at last dumped the new government could not get anything through parliament

So the WA and PD were hideously biased in the EU's favour - then along came that glorious GE evening and all that bollocks could be swept away thankfully

Those bleating about bad faith are either being disingenuous, don't have the UK’s interests as a priority or simply don't understand basics

Anyway, today's challenge for the Brexit lobby (not that you will accept it judging by the lack of interest in fish, farming, finance and factories) is:

Do you believe what the Conservative manifesto said?

“In all of our trade negotiations, we will not compromise on our high environmental protection, animal welfare and food standards.”

Or more generally, how will UK farms survive?(No subsidy for growing food, competing with cheaper crappier food from the US, tariffs on exports to EU who may not accept our food anyway if our standards drop)

And I hope you've all signed the petition.

Not a single one rose to the challenge.

Too busy backslapping because Barnier realises he's negotiating with liars, moaning about invented insults, and rejoicing that leaving the EU means we can welcome doctors from non-existent African countries.

I am guessing >90% of his posts are simply snide comments

You're view is perfectly fine my friend. Vile and abhorrent to my ears, but fine in a democracy.

You believe a European passport gives people more rights to live here than an African or Asian passport.

I think that's abhorrent. You think it's fine.

Clearly it's me that's the racist. That's how this works right?
