They struggle with defining ethnicity, Ken Jeong described Krazy Rich Asians as having an all 'asian-american' cast despite 2 of the main characters being English with asian heritage and not american at all.

More like getting on with avoiding a deadly virus which is the most important thing happening in the world at the moment.

It's divide and conquer bud, keep the people under you fighting for seperate issues and you'll always come out on top. People wont come together when minority groups (Who if they joined together would become a majority) fight for their own resources and voice, and their own leader wanting a slice of the power pie.

Colour
Ethicity
Sexual orientation
Social class

This stuff is always going to be there and it'll always be used by the people in authority, the ones right at the top to split protests into manageable groups, and in this instance it's pretty much worked again because there have been a lot of causes jumping on the bandwagon to amplify their voice, everyone wants to be the next Tolpuddle martyr or MLK or Malcolm X or the fella stood in front of the tanks in tianamen square, then go on Twitter and pump a fist telling their echo chamber about it.

yesterday it was announced ‘The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has announced that it will launch an inquiry into “long-standing, structural race inequality in Britain”

around the world small changes towards equality are making progress - will it completely root out racism over night, no. But any progress is good progress

The pandemic is an unfortunate coincidence, however, like every other time, waiting would allow things to be ignored.

People are not stupid, they see this as "important" too.

Nobody has held guns to their heads to march.

They have decided to do so anyway.

It’s a total fucking disgrace. What are we up to now 55,000 excess deaths since March? and we have rules in place that people are just fucking breaking and endangering many thousands more lives.

All for something that they just see as fashionable to play along with. An issue in another country that’s been picked to be bothered about because it’s the US while ignoring years of racism and murder in West Papua towards the indigenous black population by Indonesians, while ignoring years of barbaric treatment and murder of black people in Yemen by the Arabic population, while ignoring years of genocide towards non-Islamic black people by the Islamic population in Darfur... black lives only seem to matter to most people when it’s something they can put a hashtag to and post on social media about saying “look at me, look at what I’m taking part in”!

I wouldn’t have been bothered about any of this at any other time outside a killer virus, but the pure selfishness and stupidity of people breaking these restrictions (that aren’t even hard enough, people still should be staying at home IMO, but that’s another argument) and putting vulnerable people in each of our families at higher risk with every one of them that go outdoors to protest (or worse)... I’m beyond pissed off about it.

EDIT- I’ve just looked it up and we’re over 62,000 excess deaths due to Covid now

Those officers have been charged because it was caught on camera. If the police in America want to assault and brutalize someone from now on they'll make damn sure that no pesky member of the public is filming them.

You might change the way police operate and deal with black people, maybe.... But anyone thinking this is the start of all races across the world holding hands and saying bye bye to racism needs their head checking.

The irony being that given the nature of Covid we are being told that Bame folks are more likely to die from it. Therefore we can only conclude that those out on the streets risking a spike or second wave actually do not think black lives matter or any other lives for that matter. This combined with the clear evidence that there are so many people with not a trace of intelligence or common sense really scares the shit out of me as much as boils my piss.

I fully support the outrage of what happened to George but this type of action,at this time could spell a disastrous further outbreak.

I think the rednecks in Texas and such places, the one's with an arsenal of weapons will probably hate black people even more now.
I can actually see things getting worse after all this looting and burning.
This is an unsolvable problem.

I don't live in the UK but weren't a lot of these people that are now not giving a fuck about social distancing all braying for Cummings head last week for doing the very same ?
