BOOM Interesting that David Ornstein (on the Athletic pod (Ep 47) has confirmed the rumour that Lord Pannick QC did NOT take the CAS brief from City in the end.
Soriano is the Chief Exec of CFG. He reports to Khaldoon who, inter alia, is the Chairman of CFG and MCFC and provides the link to Mansour and ADEC.

David Gill and Rick Parry went round to Pannick's house and had a quiet word.My thoughts too, his level of expertise not required, or we haven't got a cat in hells chance?
I dont recall that but he is very well connected and informed and appears to have done what no other journalist did - he checked the Pannick story rather than just copy and pasting from articles 4 months old.Out of interest, Is Ornstein still adamant that Pep will leave at the end of this season as he said numerous times last season on the Athletic Pod?
I’ve got a feeling we will have a pretty good idea, either way, by the end of this week.
With great mediocrity as usual I imagine.........The clearest sign of how this went will be how utd approach the chase for 5th place.
Or he read this thread.I dont recall that but he is very well connected and informed and appears to have done what no other journalist did - he checked the Pannick story rather than just copy and pasting from articles 4 months old.
Didn't want him anyway. My thoughts too, his level of expertise not required, or we haven't got a cat in hells chance?
I think the Abu Dhabi United Group has caused much confusion in the media. The ADUG is an investment vehicle created by Sheikh Mansour to buy the club, it's not a sovereign wealth fund connected to the UAE state. McGeehan and other human rights activists make out that MCFC are a UAE plaything but I think that's a bit disingenuous. They claim he is a big cheese in the UAE, Deputy PM no less, but there are 2 Deputy PMs. Man City are a billionaire royal's plaything in the same way that Arsenal, and most clubs are the property of their owners. If you look in the UAE papers you wont find mention of this case.Soriano is the Chief Exec of CFG. He reports to Khaldoon who, inter alia, is the Chairman of CFG and MCFC and provides the link to Mansour and ADEC.
Was that from his video response soon after the ban was announced? The word "undertone" was what struck me at the time because it was absolutely the most accurate word possible.this nice little statement from Soriano is in an article printed today on the MUEN - not sure when the statement i dated from but it is good to read it
When responding to UEFA's sanctions, City CEO Ferran Soriano also hinted at something else the club want to get from the appeal.
He said: "I am also looking for the end of this process maybe to put a pen under this undertone that we are hearing all the time that anything that we do, any result that we get is based only on money and not on talent and effort.
"The hundreds of people that work at this club know this is not true, that it is about effort and talent so maybe in the end, this is an opportunity."
Never a truer word spoken
Sheikh Mansour has no connection with Etihad. His brother chairs the company and it's the stae-owned flag carrier for Abu Dhabi, where he's a member of the royal family, but he's not on the airline's board nor is he on the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
