So this is the equivalent is it? People suggest taking down statues of slave traders and you suggest knocking down towns and City’s? How do you arrive at that, it’s absurd

If you are suggesting that we should all know much more about our towns and cities were built and the blood that was split in getting to our position in the world then I’m all for that
I bet your attitude to Manchester's slavery related wealth is entirely different to Liverpool's.
What is wrong with you people who do not accept ALL lives matter. Especially black kids is Africa dying through disease but noone cares - too busy shouting meaningless political slogans.
Thats it. Thank you.

I wouldn't say it's something that has been removed from history because I know I was taught it. Ask people whether they know of the slave trade and whether it was wrong and 99% will say yes it was all wrong with the other 1% being knuckle dragging idiots or just thick.

I think what you want is to expose the British part of it but still it isn't something that was uniquely British or a product of British imperialism specifically. The slave trade was the doing of the entirety of Western Europe and then the US, first started by the Portuguese.

I've been to Barcelona and in La Rambla stands a massive statue of Christopher Columbus, remembered fondly for discovering the new world yet he also saw the new world as an import opportunity for slaves..... Should that statue be pulled down? God, even Colombia as a country was named after him, should they rename their country?

What I'm trying to say is this all seems an act of symbolism but is this now a trigger to confiscate and knock down everything that had any relation whatsoever to the slave trade or anything at all related to imperialism? A simple history lesson tells us who these people were and why we shouldn't look so nicely at their statues.

It's not a problem to me but I can see why some will see this as an undemocratic and highly politicised attempt to censure the past.

I hear all that but I don’t get the ‘attempt to censure the past’ bit that keeps cropping up. The protests and the statue dunking have done the exact opposite and triggered open debate about the past. Very few were having these debates yet here we are having a major debate and largely because some people chucked a statue in the Avon.

Isn't this debate worth one poxy statue of a slave trader? It doesn’t matter if we all agree, perhaps it’s just important that we are having it.

Yes please. Move to somewhere without internet connection.
Thats all. Thank you.

I went to the skins festival in Leeds a few months back and Jarry Dammers did a DJ set, playing the Ska classics. A mate was the MC, whose a face in the black community as a DJ and a Carer. It’s getting a bit stupid if there is a blanket ban on anything to do with skins. I hope it’s getting sorted.
Since Covid-19 I’ve gone with a DIY No.2 on top with a No. 1 at the sides blended down to 0 at the back of the neck.

Would I be banned?

Sorry, meant to put 'often like knighthoods' but I am certain that when these people did what they did they weren't thinking "I'll get a statue one day for this".

ofcourse they didn’t. That’s not really the point of a statue of monument. Most are made to remember people, what they did or a particular moment in time.
