If you missed it yesterday, here's two highly impressive singers at the Floyd funeral.

Kathy Taylor; particularly with her performance it gets emotional and you can understand the strength of faith.


Nakitta Foxx; great visual performance.

Basically he was pretty much an appalling cross between Rees-Mogg and Boris who changed political allegiance so often he made chukka ummuna look loyal and sincere. His military career is soaked in the blood of failure caused by his own incompetence. He was however, the right man in the right place at the right time in 1940, and he deserves our respect for leading the country for those five years.

Yeah you have a choice with churchill only allow 5 years of guiding us though WW2 to form your view or look at his wider history and decide yes he was vital in those times but a bit of a wrong un mostly previous to then oh and don't mention Gallipoli

Probably a mixture of good and bad like most of us mate.

Well, I think most people are getting confused with getting rid of and de-funding the police.

For me, when you don't have enough money for your city for schools and school meals, adding more money to further militarise the police, makes no sense when it could go to the places where the money is needed.

Including hospitals and such.

That's my position.

I'd imagine keeping their funding the same but getting them to stop murdering random black people would be a happy compromise?

Which is probably fair but those 5 years were the arguably most important in likely a 1000 years and he stepped up when under pressure that would have killed some people.

I don’t know enough about the economics there but surely defunding them means they’ll be forced to stop and therefore it’s about getting rid of?

I understand the want to take some away for other means but not all?

Didn’t they more or less do what is being advocated in Camden, New Jersey seven years ago and reduced crime considerably by setting up more community bodies and a police force that engaged with them.

The way I look at is, if there's enough money to fund cops wages and weapons, what do they need beyond that? Cities get sued a fair bit, so I wonder if that's why they're funded so heavily?

Defunding means spreading funds allocated to police budgets into including commuity initatives like youth centres, residentiial programmes, more educational and outreach centres etc.


For example instead of buying an armoured car build or open a community centre in a troubled district

Yeah, I believe the cops threaten to quit or quit and the crime rate actually went down because of the set up you mentioned!

It's entirely doable, but it's all about power.

Look at this view of our policing...

I get that mate, they’re weapons obsessed over there and whilst I understand Ben Shapiro’s point about the need to rebel against a tyrannical government, with weapons, they don’t need that many and in turn the police won’t need that many.

I agree the money should be used elsewhere but you still need an adequately funded police force, especially in areas where gangs will move in.
