George Floyd murder | Clashes between US police and protestors

Again though, that’s because some in the media are linking everyone in to the same category. The original people that started Black lives matter and those whose lives are most impacted are ultimately the ones that are going to again suffer because of what it has turned into.

Their aim initially and still now is in their name. All they were asking for was for others to treat them similar to anyone else and that their lives matter. They haven’t just done that, they’ve pleaded for it and now they are protesting for it. It is not in their control to actually make the change because it is how they are treated and perceived that is the entire issue.

Whats now happened is a bunch of predominately white people, in supporting that movement, have taken it upon themselves to push it towards the censorship or eradication of anything they believe to be offensive to those people. The thing is though, all that has done is angered the very people the BLM movement is pleading to in the first place. Any initial sympathy is then drowned out in anger at the idea it’s then turned into an attack on their culture and ultimately for no benefit to anyone.

Does anyone really think what the BLM movement was asking for was the removal of a statue of someone that no one had ever heard of before? That they thought that is what would make the lives of their children better? Of course it isn’t, it’s changing the viewpoint of the people they will encounter throughout their life that is important.

I actually feel very sorry for the proper BLM movement. All they were asking for (again) was for white people to treat them with respect and for their lives to matter and it had a moment driving it that no one could ever condone. White people then attach themselves to the movement, turn it into an attack on historical figures and statues themselves and the initial message is then eradicated.

The end result is the very people the BLM were pleading to that their lives matter right now are instead debating and feeling more emotive about inanimate objects of dead white people than they do about their real lives right now.

Its depressingly ironic really if you think about it. And so the cycle continues.

This is the same BLM though who tried to get on the runway at London City Airport to stop planes going out because “air pollution affects BAME more”.

The protest at Oxford yesterday was definitely them and it wasn’t white people at the front on the microphone.

I agree with the rest of your point but I would just add that it’s not the fault of the general population we’re now talking about Churchill’s statue and Nelson’s Column, it’s the protesters fault for moving it in that direction.

I couldn’t really care less about Colston or even Baden-Powell for that matter but let’s not remove a key landmark.

Stop the world I want to get off, the loony left and PC brigade have finally won, trying to wipe history from the world, it’s quite frankly pathetic, the statues etc have been there for years no one gives a shit, the thick twats wouldn’t even exist if it wasn’t for Churchill. TV shows been taken down, I thought we lived in a free country, if I want to watch something then let me, if you don’t like it don’t bloody watch it. Erasing history doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, trying to apologise for something that happened 100s of years ago is ridiculous. Maybe concentrate your efforts on slavery that’s happening now in our cities, using our resources and efforts to stop the exploited in our country now.
Erasing history is what Hitler wanted to do to the Poles.

It’s extremist.

It’s pathetic!

Everyone take a look at their car outside: is it a Ford or a VW? Well Henry Ford was a Nazi contributer, VW made the Beetle for the Nazi state and then their war vehicles in WW2... Now have a look in your wardrobe: got anything by Hugo Boss? Well he was a Nazi and he designed+made the Nazi uniforms... Have a look in your DVD collection; got any Disney films? Well Walt Disney was a Nazi sympathiser and went to Nazi Party rallies...

If we actually looked hard enough we’d find something wrong with everything we have.

Let’s get rid of everything!

Anyone of these people who want all these statues taken down got a phone or any clothing made by an 8 year old girl working 18 hours a day for a bit of food and no pay in a sweat shop in Asia? I’ll bet they fucking have and I bet they don’t give a fucking shit!

Bad day at the office? I've not discredited the protest. Get off your keyboard and go for walk ffs. He was murdered and it's been dealt with. People go on about like this terrible situation is the only bad thing that's happened. It's a fucked up world and its run by powerful people who like to play god behind the scenes.
I work in a shop and had been in it from 10 til 2 yesterday. That's 4 hours outside.

I think this is part of a wider conspiracy. How do you discredit a movement which has a legitimate point and wants change? 1) make the ‘if you don’t like it leave’ argument mainstream(Nick Ferrari) and 2) find extremists, make them the centre and use that to show the whole movement is absurd. The old, ‘where will it end’ argument

I was thinking along the same lines.

Starting to become very apparent how easily the media can spin something incontestable into something ridiculous by highlighting the views of the most extreme and packaging it together with the valid, irrefutable points. So we've gone from talking about how police brutality and racism wrong, to discussing how taking the League of Gentlemen off streaming sites is ridiculous. It's a pretty common tactic and is clearly very effective, you no longer have to debate the point you know you can't win and instead pick a fight that you know you can and link them to undermine the initial protest.

Sadly, some on the left are far too thick to realise they are being played like this and continue to rage against utterly stupid things. Thus, nothing changes except everyone on both sides is angrier and more divided

To be fair I think everyone is being played. When you go above the Government, there's no such thing as left and right, just greed. It's the same with the media to a point. This is deliberately being stirred up. It's almost as if you need to take sides. Never has 'divide and conquer' been more fitting.

I’m not demanding it though am I, certainly not with the threat of violence?

Who have I demanded it to?

I just said I think it’s time it should go.

I think calling for the abolition of the BBC is to advocate for a policy of cultural and national vandalism far worse than advocating for the removal of some statues. And for what? Binning a comedy episode over racist language?

Generally speaking people seem far more offended by this than monuments to murder.

Im all for equality but when BLM is conveniently propped up by ANTIFA thugs and become black nationalism I draw the line. BLM is creating division that never really existed. The whole “divide and conquer” thing is so obvious to see. The black community in the UK are being used....
We dealt with the whole 'antifa' bollocks pages ago.

And your proof of ANITFA involvement is?
He wont have any. i've asked several posters on this thread to send me links to 'antifa' but nowt so far.
@brooklandsblue2.0 has made 2 posts on this thread in the last day citing that and some other bollox reason to let us know how understanding he is of the shit minorities have had for years.
Very predictable
