The DM is a rag I agree but Antifa have some very extreme views such as deconstructing capitalism and replacing it with the communist utopia. Not sure about you bud but I would prefer to live under a capitalistic system with the many faults it has rather than the alternative.

You are getting mixed up mate, ANTIFA are by definition a collective from different strata of society, it is quite possible to be a capitalist and ANTIFA, what you have done is taken one faction of the coalition as the definition for the whole. I may support deconstructing capitalism and replacing it with Socialism, my mate who was on the ANTIFA marches against the NF is Southwark holds a different view to me on capitalism although we do agree on Socialism, I am probably more to the left and more authoritarian in outlook to him.

What people are doing are confusing ANTIFA with Anarchists, now there may well be Anarchists who would identify as Anti Fascist but their Anarchist agenda bears as little truck with me as any Libertarian agenda.

ANTIFA as a collective involves people from across Trade Unions, Political Parties of all hues, campaign groups such as BLM, CND, anti-foxhunting and maybe even the Countryside alliance for all I know, but they all share one important thing in common, they are all Anti Fascist, which surely everybody who has any fear of the rising Far Right must think is a good thing. Who really wants a return to the Fascism of the 1930s we saw across Europe.

That Reagan quote is often attributed to Churchill as well and is basically anti-leftist propaganda. Reagan was a notorious anti-communist and Churchill by dint of working with Stalin at Yalta saw for himself the dangers that a Demagogic authoritarian regime posed to the safety of Western Europe.

To purport that anti fascists are the new fascists just shows a distinct lack of understanding of what Fascism actually is. If you want to see a good explanation look up Umberto Eco and his 14 pointers and you will see that the comparison is nonsense.

Just to take things back to near where this all started - BLM in the states have an issue with America's racist past and its continuation in the Southern States post Civil War. The flag is one thing that the white right rally around - interestingly banned from NASCAR races recently - but surely as an emblem it is so stained it has no place in a civil society? The flag that has flown next to burning crosses, at lynchings at mixed schools demo's has had every bit of honour and dignity wrung out of it decades ago?

The flag was the symbol of the Confederate States - Alexander H Stephens was their V.P. who had this to say about why the Confederacy existed and black people feel that self same sentiment still exists there today -

"On March 21, 1861, Stephens gave his famous Cornerstone Speech in Savannah, Georgia. In it he declared that slavery was the natural condition of blacks and the foundation of the Confederacy. But Loose Women (haha) have a black presenter and she was just complaining about the lack of diversity in Parliament and the Cabinet. One of them pointed out 2 of the 3 most powerful people in the UK are from minorities and it’s the most diverse parliament in history, from December’s vote.

Yes he was an officer at the Battle of Omdurman and from my memory,he was involved with one of the last full out charges by British Cavalry against the Deverishes .
