Despite being blocked by Delaney I think it is a disgrace that people write to his employer trying to get him sacked for having a highly political view on Saudi Arabia.

I don't agree with his conclusion and think the fact that Saudi interests are already well embedded in this country and globally means that the myopic view that investment in football can only be sportswashing can't be true. At least part of PIF's interest in Newcastle is financial. And why on earth would the Rueben Brothers get involved if not for financial reasons. Likewise, Silverlake couldn't care less about sportswashing Abu Dhabi's state reputation.

But he is entitled to his view without a pile on to get him sacked. The point he made re trains was not difficult to understand and is a commonish retort.

The unfortunate reality for the Delaneys of this world are that Chinese, PIF (the Saudi investment fund) and Abu Dhabi money have invested and will continue to invest/own many Western assets in all sectors. What does he want a shareholder list on the label of every product and service?

F*** Delaney.

He deserves everything he gets the horrible little sh***

He proudly declared that he even refuses the food at City and won't be seen as a hypocrite.

Cue Rabin and others on Twitter posting historical pictures from Delaney's account showing him filling his fat face with cakes.

Emblazoned with City's updated badge on and complementing the nice touch from the club...

Forever now known as Cakegate.
Is this for real? This guy is just full of pap, City should ban the bellend.

They don't need to, that's the beauty of all this.

He craves oxygen and that means he needs to share his opinion on anything and everything, to the extent he can't remember what he might have said previously.

He is continually hoisted by his own petard.

It must be a real rock and hard place for someone like Delaney, however.

He actually NEEDS for City and Newcastle fans to engage him.

There's not much traction in writing about sportswashing in an echo chamber full of Liverpool and United fans.

Hes changed that. Sure I saw yesterday he said Hitler made the trains run on time and he got loads of grief because apparently it was Mussolini not Hitler
And if Stephen Fry is to believed Mussolini only made one train run on time rather than a whole network.
#Itruststephen.

Quite. Although there have been incidents where he and others in his orbit have been abusive or threatening to individuals. I think that entitled the people concerned to contact his employers, who have a code of conduct that governs social media behaviour.

I didnt write to his employers about that though - he had called me and my mate a racist online (with his many followers watching), he said he had recorded evidence of the racism and that is was easy to find on a podcast - then I asked him, politely, for the podcast link and he went silent - as there wasnt one - I wasnt even there at the event...
Plus he then started linking one poster to Hitlers ideals because he disagreed with him - the fact that he was doing this whilst under the guise of an independant employer I then wrote to them.
Nothing to do with his view on Saudi Arabia

its they way of the world wanting people sacked nowadays, the twitter army ,its full of people who are holier than thou.

Agreed. Depends what the abuse is. He's hardly the first journalist to put out something about the UK and Saudi's relationship.

Mussolini didn't either but we'll not get into that. Delaney's a man with two degrees (one in politics) and works in the public eye, so should be intelligent enough to know not to use this sort of language, whatever the context. Maybe it's not intelligence but wisdom that is needed, perhaps.

I doubt he was talking about you then. I certainly wasn't. I was merely referring to the tweet above regarding his Saudi post.

Claimed he was a man of such robust principle that - although he 'has to' attend press conferences, etc at City and report on the club as part of his job - he makes the point (what point, I'm not quite sure) of never eating our food while he's there. Because that'll show the Club what a fearsome adversary they're dealing with.

A City fan then showed him a picture (from his own Twitter feed, I believe) of him stuffing his fat face with City branded food at one of his visits to the Etihad.

Delaney blocked the fan, and had a bit of a sulk about making such a ridiculous public spectacle of himself. Again.

I thank you - as it was me!

Never mess with Man City cake department! Yaya’s agent tried it once and had his ass served!

He is manifestly not intelligent.
