I don’t begrudge him wanting to leave us, we’ve been very fortunate that nobody we have wanted to keep has expressed a desire to leave us in a decade now but I do have a slightly bitter taste for him doing it like this, he could have signed a new deal ages ago with the condition we sell him when he asks to leave and that way everybody gets a better deal but this way has screwed us financially.

As for sane as a player, gutted he’s going as I’ve always said he has the highest potential of all our younger players and for me the most exciting player to watch. he’s different to anything else we’ve got in the squad and any replacement needs to have the same qualities he possesses I.e raw pace, directness on the ball, the ability to go down the outside without needing to cut back inside and the willingness to base his game predominantly as an off the ball runner in behind. If we sign another Bernardo/mahrez type to play out wide we’re going to find it a lot harder to break teams down with very little threat in behind.
