Don’t agree with the suggestion we have no power here. He’s not played regularly for 18 months, yes he can wind down his contract if he wants to but to do so is essentially sacrificing another year of hardly playing. for a player to miss the best part of 3 years in succession in his early 20’s is not something any player is going to want regardless of money. Bayern’s money men might be happy with waiting and signing him on a free but that isn’t going to send the right signals to Sane about just how much Bayern want him.

We need a player like Sane in the squad, he’s been a huge miss this season as without the option of playing him we’ve had no threat in behind and we’ve become a lot easier to play against than we were in the centurion season. Pep has supposedly just said we have other options for the left with Jesus and foden able to play there, i suspect that’s just a standard media response but if that really is his plan we’re going to see a similar frustrating season, the team lacks pace and off the ball runners, we need a Sane or a replacement with similar qualities

Bayern offering £30m, we'll be asking for £50m+.

Bayern will be saying they'll be happy to wait until next year, we'll be saying we'll be happy to let him leave on a free if our valuation isn't met.

It's all part of the negotiations and I'm confident there will be a 'breakthrough' in the coming weeks where we meet in the middle with some add ons thrown in for good measure.

It's a lose-lose-lose for all parties if Sane doesn't move this summer. We will lose a good chunk of money that will help assist our net spend, Bayern losing out on their main target for the 2nd window in a row and risk other clubs coming in with big offers when he's a free agent and Sane arguably risks the most by going another season playing little football after a big injury with the Euro's coming up the following summer.

I still think Pep playing him in a friendly when the whole world knew he was pining for a move was the wrong thing to do and you could see a situation like this from a mile away, but it's done now, so the club have to make the best of a bad situation.

As much as Bayern and Sane have played their part, so too have City by not protecting their asset whilst his value was at it's highest, so we're not really in a position to complain when we're not being offered what we deem acceptable.

Just glad to put this saga to Bed if i am honest.

I would play him though just to piss them off, until Bayern pay our asking price.

They will view him as theirs now no matter what.

Every time we play him they will feel afronted by us risking their asset.

Let's be honest those cnuts are probably affronted that we haven't given him to them for free.

I agree.

That is the worst thing about all this, the overt tapping him up.

Taking away one of our star players, and trying to make us eat a shit sandwich at the same time.

Classless fuckers,horrible entitled Club.

By the same premise, Bayern pay us £40m and Leroy has repeated knee problems for the rest of his career - that's the risk all clubs take.

He would have left last summer for £110m but we gambled and lost. Any other injury barring an Achilles, would have seen it still go through.

I'm sorry, How can anyone say he would have left last year for 110m, or 100m or 115m or whatever? We didn't gamble, bayern did (and we lost). Bayern repeatedly said tehy wouldnt pay more than 70m. to imagine they'd have paid 110m is a hell of a stretch. We said we'd accept nothing less than 135m, 110 is less if a stretch, but ultimately, what makes you think bayern would ever have gone that high.

It is not though. It is 40m, or here for another season.
Then it’s is he worth £40 mill plus his wages for one season, I’m fairly certain the club and the manager would say no, we can get far better value using that money on a player that will be here a bit longer than one season and wants to be with us. I may be proven wrong but very much doubt it.

It's not about whats insulting or not, it's about whats realistic, and whats best for the club.If £40mill is the best we can get then its better to get it and spend on the squad than not. My guess is we will get £40 mill and maybe a few add ons, to around £50 mill.

That would be fair, and close enough to his value based on the situation.
However, bayern have to offer. We can keep shouting tske 40m and ler hin go, doesn't happen till they offer.

Maybe. Maybe not. Doubt you can find a player of his quality (and don't forget knowledge of this team and system) that 40m would meaningfully contribute to.

Moot point, till bayern offer 40m.

Because they were negotiating for a compromise figure as soon as City briefed we wanted £138m.

A figure of £100m plus £10m in add-ons was what we were ready to accept and Sane would have been sold a couple days after the Liverpool game.

We gambled on playing Sane to push Bayern closer to that figure and it backfired due to the injury.

Leroy was saying his goodbyes last summer to people.

I would play him tonight
I hope he doesn’t. We are basically testing him for them so they can see if he‘s still the same or not. They should get him without any gametime since they are so heavily interested in him anyway

Yeah but if he plays a bags a hat trick that will strengthen our position

Only Pep will know Leroy's state of mind. If he's sulking don't play him, if he's bursting to prove a point - give him a go. I'm sure Bayern have been on the phone saying - please don't play him against Burnley.

Maybe they have but ultimately as a club we firstly need to qualify for next season's CL and then we have two cups still to play for and a fit Leroy could play his part. We need to bring him up to speed in time for cup games as I think we should be ok for CL. We only require 11 points and that's assuming scum and Wolves win every game.

I doubt we played sane to push bayern to up an offer they hadn't made and repeatedly said they wouldn't make. We played him because he is our player. That isn't a gamble.

I don't beleive any of that, i'm sorry and no offense, but 110m is so far off both, and wven if i could see us accepting it (that soon after saying 135 so resolutely), i can't see bayern having offered it. It would have beem 72m, then 75, i doubt they'd have gone over 80. They made their bed, they'd look supid if they didn't lie in it. I doubt they had hoped for anything more than unsettling him, making sure he doesn't commit to a new deal, and trying again this season for a lot less.

I guess I've been totally out of the loop then. I was under the impression that Bayern were lowballing us with a £70/80m bid and, because of that, have defended our choice to play him.

If what you're saying is true then that was incredibly stupid of us.
