David Silva leaves City after 10 years

He was great tonight but he's no longer an automatic starter.

If I was doing a front 6 for next year it would be.
Sterling Kun Mahrez
Foden Rodri KdB

and that's leaving out Jesus and Bernie.

So if DS is not a starter he should be allowed to leave on his own terms.

He is leaving at exactly the right time for him and us(virus excepted) let him play a few more years with the sun on his back.
Nailed it. He hasn't got the legs for regular PL appearances now. And it wouldn't be fair to him to keep him around for occasional cup appearances and 60-70 minute cameos in the league. He's more than earned his last hurrah in the sun back home. Hopefully the club will be able to organise some sort of farewell, testimonial-type game when fans can come to say their goodbyes and thank yous.

Love the guy to bits but for the 2nd half of last season and then this season his form has been very erratic. For me one of his biggest strengths over the years has been his consistency, even on his bad days he was 7/10. Over the past year though we have not been sure what we are gonna get from him from week to week. Tonight he was magnificent, next week who knows?

I’ve loved watching him for the past decade and he will be sorely missed. I do feel now is the right time to part ways and for someone else to have a go at the unenviable task of trying to replace him.

i am willing to beg, steal or borrow to keep El Mago. He really can't go without us being there. It's as simple as that. Can we convince him to stay for another year? Or do we arrange a socially distanced guard of honour outside the stadium for his last game. It's going to be bad enough him going but letting him go without fanfare is just not right. Thoughts?

We would end up having to sell Foden!

Not sure there is much we can (or should) do, except enjoy the last moments of greatness from one of the best players to ever wear the sky blue shirt.

Definitely City's best ever, Incredible footballer!

As a football fan I always thought Dennis Bergkamp was the most naturally gifted footballer I've ever seen in the Premier League he was ridiculously good. But for me and not being biased I think David Silva has to go down as the best ever Premier League player. Really going to miss him. All us blues have been incredibly lucky to watch this lad week in week out in a blue shirt.

Get Morgana a to put a spell on him?

Silvaisgold. But I agree that lately is brilliance is a micro second slower that what it was in his pomp. Hes so committed to us and his last games for us he's trying to head defenders faces in areial battles. Plus he wants so much of the ball it now takes him an age on his left peg to turn full circle and keep possession. But David when you go mate I will hold you in the highest of esteem of being one of Man Citys greatest players EVER. Respect blueboy

Unbelievable player, when both him and Yaya were on song we were unplayable.
Those were his best days and they used to love playing off each other, you couldn't help but notice either of them looking for each other when they were on the ball.
I think it effected Silva when Yaya went as he did seem to go off the boil for a short while, maybe it was more to do with the problems when his son was born, I can't tally the dates as I can't remember but both incidents did effect him.

He may not have the legs anymore but he certainly still has the brain and would be the first name on most Prem team sheets even now.
He's playing his best football since Yaya left imo, It would be great if somehow or someway we could keep him for another season to give us half a chance of giving him the send off he deserves, his form at the moment certainly suggests he's capable of it.

I was at the Hull City away game a few years ago, and after Vinny got sent off our little magician grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck, and scored an absolute worldie.

He ran the midfield that day like he has been doing for 10 yrs, I will miss never seeing him in sky blue again, but I think the time is right for Sir David to move on.

10 years of magic from the little maestro. Sheer class on and off the pitch. Part of a revolutionary change in the way football was played in this country and never had the credit he deserved along the way. Just too humble at times. The revisionists will be out in force over the coming weeks as we prepare to say a sad goodbye to a true legend. All the pundits and commentators will be saying how they always rated him highly and they're sad to see him go. Utter bollox as they'll be glad to see him off as we're a weaker team without Merlin in it and that's what the majority of them want.

Thought he was absolutely brilliant against Newcastle. Slowing down? What a load of shite. His work rate, touch and all around play was absolutely brilliant. Think we should keep for another season. Definitely good for 10-15 starts next season.
