CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

Sky Sports,

What about the Premier League investigation into Manchester City?
As well as the UEFA investigation, Manchester City are also being investigated by the Premier League over financial issues, academy recruitment and third-party ownership.

That Premier League investigation - which has been running since March 2019 - remains ongoing

I did'nt know we were under investigation for 3rd party ownership?

That looks like a lazy cut and paste. We were investigated over an academy project, and whether it was akin to 3rd party ownership, but it got dropped.

Absolutely massive win for the club. Surely this has to be the end of FFP? In the current climate clubs desperately need investors to pile their cash into the game.

I thought they were waiting to see the outcome of today. Lets see if they even try anything - my money is they will shrink back with tails between their legs. Not sure they would want to fuck with us after seeing the decision today
Nothing to investigate is with a CAS cleared us the fine is a arbitrary thing City spanked UEFA in the main event so will give them a little sweetener in the also ran event.

All those bitter fans from other clubs should realise this is a victory for them as well. It means any supporter lucky enough to get a rich (and generous owner) might just allow them to follow their footballing dreams. The area around the ground has been revitilised, creating new opportunities for residents.

I have just been informed by a sly sports rag that the whole thing was due to the Wilfred Bony transfer (EH?) followed by how unfair it is that the judgment was given out today because this now puts pressure on the rags to win tonight!!!!!

Not sure why so many opposition fans are saying we've now destroyed FFP.

Surely, City's argument wasn't "We've broken FFP - but we say the idea of FFP is wrong"

... it was simply "We accept FFP but we haven't broken it".

Quite different.
That's right. Here's an analogy.

You've been accused of a crime (let's say you're a football writer and have been accused of writing something factually incorrect about a football club) and you say you didn't do it. The police arrest you, investigate you, sentence you and send you to jail (because in this universe they can do that). Luckily you are allowed to appeal because you have evidence that you didn't write what they said you did and also the appeal courts exist in a universe where common sense prevails.

You're appealing the sentence (and or investigation), not the law for the crime you are accused of breaking. You agree with the law.

Why this isn't getting through to people is beyond me.

Can we get the CAS judgement made into an enormous banner for the Madrid game? Fantastic result for the club and all its supporters. Now it’s time to go on the front foot.

I stopped reading at ‘Liverpool played by the rules of FFP for the last ten years’.

That imaginary stadium that found them in breach of financial fair play that should have got them banned but they were to shit to qualify never happened did it?

I liked "years of proven cheating" too.
Umm, we failed to get under the early limits despite best efforts. Not cheating, just fineable.
Since then... er...

Not a chance. Most of these clubs voted in favour of FFP. Like turkeys voting for Christmas.

I don't think he's especially bitter about it. Thinking that the PL are toothless seems fair.
Others who should know better than Lineker have claimed FFP looks untenable - at worst, he's just wrong, and I suspect it depends on what is understood by "end of FFP" - that's a fairly widely quoted opinion based on UEFA not getting another case through.

I think if he was seeing it with Leicester glasses, he'd be much clearer that he was doing so, and mostly in good humour.

Linking our acquittal today with an untenable FFP was a deliberate act on Lineker part.

We both know what it insinuates.

If he has grievance with FFP,them that was for another day.

Not the day we are cleared of serious wrong doing.
