Masks compulsory in shops and supermarkets from July 24. Police will be enforcing it with £100 fines.

It’s us as a culture , we don’t like being told what to do - government know it will be chaos if they force major changes over night so have to slowly bed it in

I’m not having that. They’ve gone from non-mandatory to mandatory overnight because they’re indecisive wankers who don’t have a clue what they’re doing.

I was told last week by a health care professional last week that those blue ones that they use (of which I've been wearing when shopping) loses its effectiveness after 20mins. Is this right???

I think people don't like looking like plebs in this country by wearing one but surely if it saves you getting infected, looking like a pleb is the least of your worries.

Oh and we shouldn't need telling what to do in every instance but be able to use our own common sense.

If it was going to be done it should have been done weeks ago.

It will not help the high street that is for sure. People just wont be arsed going to these places if you have to wear a mask.

well. They’ve not made it over night. That’s the point.

Will come into affect in a couple weeks.

I don’t mind criticism at the Goverment but they are clearly taking advice from scientists and other areas, so for a joe bloggs just to label them ‘wankers that don’t have a clue’ is a pointless petty cliched remark

Yep, but they're not to protect you they are to protect others from you, they will still to a degree prevent your droplets getting to someone else.

If it reduces the infection rate and maintains the low levels we have now then what’s the issue ?

pub industry is different, most can socially distance and sit in gardens and you go there for a nice time

Shopping is mainly essential, inside and smaller space between people, so yes, face masks make total sense and your comparison is moaning for the sake of it.

And to protect the wearer from the same who maybe breathing on you? That's what I was told anyway and I'm comfortable with that ie whilst not eliminating the risk, it reduces the risk for all.

Sweden's covid policy starting to get some recognition that it may have been correct all along. That said if antibodies last 3 months they will be no better off than us come winter.

Its only working now because most have been masking up in enclosed areas for the last 4 weeks.

I personally will not go to the shops if i can possibly avoid it.

I will now order supermarket online which means Aldi and Morrisons in Nantwich lose my custom as they dont deliver. The corner shop will be a few quid down too. As will any take away establishments in the town.

Only at the airport and on a plane will I put up with it, the rest I will just avoid at all costs.

Now to be clear I am not saying this is not the right thing to do it may well be, but I cant take to wearing the things. So my views are based on my own feelings.

The protection a surgical mask gives you is limited.
But that's not the point though - its to stop people wearing them from passing it on. That lasts till it gets wet.

Now to be clear I am not saying this is not the right thing to do it may well be, but I cant take to wearing the things. So my views are based on my own feelings.

I thought that myself until I had to spend a week in hospital recently, after half a day it felt perfectly normal and fine.
