Game looks lost, shocking batting let us down yet again.

Our fielding left quite a lot to be desired, too. Although it's possible to make a case for England having this match in their grasp on at least two occasions (and then throwing it away), I think there are enough signs that the other matches will be more competitive. England clearly didn't hit the ground running, had a lot of cobwebs to blow away, and the Windies did. There are encouraging signs. Denly and Buttler surely need to go. Those of you who know more about the game than me will be able to suggest improved replacements.
From a neutral's point of view, it's been a cracking match, mind.

Pretty sure root will come in for denly with Crawley moving up to 3. I think it’s about time we gave foakes a proper chance to cement his place, I know he wasn’t great with the bat for Surrey last year but he is the best keeper and his past performances for England have been good. I really do not want to see Bairstow or butler again fantastic white ball players but not up to test cricket.

Cornwall can feel hard done by after a 10fer in his last test match but Blackwood justified his selection with a fine 95 in the second innings.

Root will come in for Denly, who may well have played his final test match, whilst Broad should return in place of Wood. Buttler should be dropped but I imagine he’ll be in the team for at least the rest of the series.

Love my cricket and am putting up my best world test Xi from the 80's to around 2010 see if anybody can beat this side:

Gooch
Gavaskar
Lara
S.Waugh
M.Waugh
Botham
Gilchrist
Warne
M.Marshall
W. Akram
Holding

I’d have Lara, Gilchrist, Warne and Akram in my best eleven too. To challenge your side, I’d go for:

Hayden
Sehwag
Ponting
Tendulkar
Kohli
Kallis
AB de Villiers (WK)
Steyn
Ambrose
Muralitharan
McGrath

Unfortunately, the team has a very long tail.

That would be some game, forgot about Tendulkar and Kallis, so many options

Gone for a more modern approach as these are the players I know more about. Loads of good players have already been used but surprisingly there’s still loads of talent available. I mean this XI below is awesome. It has highly skilled technical batsmen who can stay at the crease for hours and hours (Cook, Clarke, Smith etc), a world class spinner, two game changing all rounders who give the side a really long batting line up whilst still having a 5 man bowling attack. Anderson might be a bit of a controversial pick but he’s often unplayable in swinging conditions so gets the nod for me.

Alastair Cook
Justin Langer
Kane Williamson
Steve Smith
Michael Clarke
Kumar Sangakkara (Adam who? 57 run average in tests!!)
Ben Stokes
Andrew Flintoff
Mitchell Johnson
James Anderson
Muttiah Muralitharan

I like Isa Guha, the cricket reporter for the BBC
