David Silva leaves City after 10 years

Incredible stats.

I think it's the right time for him to go to be honest. In hindsight wouldn't you have preferred Yaya to leave at his peak? Kompany left at the right time too.

The mad thing is though mate, if you watch the video posted by Sebastianblue, he could have had another dozen assists in the first two minutes of that video alone, if we put 50% of the chances away. My favourite player ever, an absolute delight to watch.

There can't be many players who have been as consistently excellent as him. To get 10 years of a player with pretty much all of it at his peak is incredible. An absolute privilege for us. And seems like a top bloke as well. I'm not old enough to have seen Bell play, but surely David is our best ever player?

So you should!
In music, David would be Yo-Yo Ma: a virtuoso, loved by everyone, desperately sought after for collaborations, won nearly everything there is to win, not playing for the money but because he genuinely loves it, constantly trying to use his fame and influence to help people, and can really pull the strings.

About seven years ago we were strolling along the front one night in Port De Pollenca, my lad was about five at the time, wearing his little City kit with Silva on the back.

We were stopped a couple of times by locals who wanted to give my lad the thumbs up and acknowledge Silva's name on his back.

Dave's name results in respect for who he is, as both a footballer and as a man.

Legend.

Fairly sure David isn’t going to struggle for suitors but this is a nice (and expected) gesture from the club, which I think Pep has alluded to several times, including in the interview that prompted this thread.

He's off to Arsenal to join Agent Arteta and make Ozil look like a hard working committed player.

:)

As God like as he has been and still is, its the right time for him and the club.

One last year rarely ever works out and lets remember him at his very best rather than watching half the player he has been or seeing him sat on the bench more and more.

This has been my sentiment all season. Some seem to take offence at this viewpoint.

His current form is fantastic and I hope he can really go out in style by starring in the big games we have left to play. What we are seeing at the moment is how I want to remember him. Well, how I really want to remember him is lifting the Champions League trophy ;-)

Nothing last forever and it will be emotional but love him and let him leave.

Lovely part of Mallorca too! We stayed in Alcudia and was acknowledged a few times whilst wearing my City shirt in the Old Town about the respect they have for our Dave.S

It’s testimony that salary only attracts players for so long.
Playing for a club that treats you right and gives you the opportunity to enjoy your profession are much stronger motivations for staying long term.

There are a couple of exceptions but not many players want out when they join us

Apparently city fans will be lining the streets when we play Madrid to give him at least some kind of send off.

really? lol David Silva is a footballer whom is respected by everyone in the game, even the most bias red or scouser has 100% respect.

YoYo mmm I love music, never herd of the dude , my analogy would be George Clooney, a good looking bastard who you would be happy to let free on your wife or girlfriend.

...that’s what I said in the post you quoted. ;-)

As for George Clooney... far too ugly to be David.

When we played Madrid away in the semi, me and my mate were on the train into Madrid from the airport.

We met some Athletico fans who said they believed he was Spain's best player, they thought he was fantastic.
