Anelka: Misunderstood | Netflix

Hated the moody fucker if I'm honest, a proper bighead.
Fowler said in his autobiography that he was always late and everyone had to wait for him for training to start, said keegan was too soft with him.
Great goalscorer and great player but he never really looked like he wanted to be here half the time.

Think I might give it a swerve.

He looked the same at ever club apart from his early Arsenal days.

Great player, but great mercenary, must be a very rich man.

I loved the Anelka. He was brilliant for us, and when he scored the first in the last Maine Road derby, pandemonium broke out in BB (and probably the rest of the stadium), so much so that my glasses were bent in the chaos.
Still one of my favourite ever games (possibly top 3 - but this is getting ever harder to rank) - my first derby and had so much adrenaline I couldn't stop my leg shaking pre-kick off.

The atmosphere was everything you could ever want out of a crowd..............

Out of all the players who have played for us in the premier league pre the take over, Anelka was the only one good enough to get in our current squad imo.

Master of timing his run to close down an opponent to arrive just as they played the ball, so he looked like he was trying but never had to do any work.

Fowlers biography was a good read, he would make runs and Anelka wouldn’t bother passing to him. He used to try and ruff up and kick off with the youth players in training. I did enjoy that goal he scored at Anfield though.
