David Silva leaves City after 10 years

Not felt the same this year without Vinny and will feel even worse next year with Dave. When Aguero leaves next It will be truly depressing in a football context.

Agreed, but having a handful of born and raised blues coming into the fold definitely helps (helps me anyway). If the next crop can be as successful as the last, it's going to be truly special stuff :)

Not only a genuinely world class player but a genuinely world class human being.
In these days of social media nonsense, cheap celebrity and players promoting themselves as ‘brands’ - when even nonentities like Peter Crouch are presenting prime time ‘bantz’ horror shows on BBC1- there is something beautifully old school about David’s humility and dedication to the ideal of the team above the individual.
The only time I think I ever read of Dave advertising anything outside of football was some low key work promoting tourism to his local region of Gran Canaria.
Unlike Scholes, who was supposedly the previous high watermark for media reticence, I cant see Dave doing a complete U-turn and becoming a rentagob for hire once he finally retires. He was a better player as well.
The season when he was starring on the pitch in a title-winning side and then immediately flying home afterwards to be with his ailing newborn son was staggering. If a glorified cheerleader like Henderson can be named footballer of the year mainly for “off-field matters” then surely Dave should’ve been recognised that year

Fantastic post about a fantastic player. Such a shame he isn’t getting a proper send off today. Thanks for everything El Mago.

@kippaxwarrior , sorry to hear about your dad. RIP and condolences to you and your family. David Silva is a true legend and your dad would be proud to know how well you have honoured his memory.

I know that I will be emotional this afternoon, I have the tissues ready. Probably even more than for Vinnie and Zaba as we can't give David the send off he deserves. But we will welcome him back for a testimonial match and he will get a true City welcome home.

Come on City. Like you that pass in the sick swan is my favourite assist from David.
Thanks for the kind words.

I have family who live in Gran Canaria and they have met David many times (as they worked for Anfi resort which David is an ambassador) and they have always said you couldn't meet a nicer person than David. My dad never met him but he did meet his parents in their restaurant in Arguineguin.

It was a bit surreal as my dad was wearing his Silva shirt!! But again they were fantastic people to talk to.

The beach resort he owns in Amadores beach is stunning as well

So today is the day

He is the best player we have ever had, am so sad he is not with the fans today and feeling the love, this is so wrong

We are losing a still magnificent player ,i still love watching him play

Only Sergio remains

Fuckity fuck

Absolutely Oakie, When Colin came back after his horrific injury, hobbling on one leg strapped that heavily it couldn`t be bent at the knee, you could still see his football brain working and his passing ability.
We`ll never forget that final day in May 2012 but likewise I`ll never forget the day King Colin made his comeback on Boxing Day v Newcastle at home.Fair play to the Geordies as they all joined in chanting Colins name and everywhere there were tears of joy.
I saw him at Glyn Pardoes funeral and he was limping quite badly then, whether that was still down to Buchans tackle on the knee or just old age wear and tear.

We’ll never forget you Merlin and your magic wand.
Might have known Kaz7 would enjoy that second photo.

I really hope he goes home to play for Las Palmas rather than somewhere in the US or Middle East. I’d love the opportunity to go see him playing again next season

Henderson being player of the year instead of KDB is embarrassing and hearing pundits and writers justify it is both laughable and excruciating. It is up there with Scott Parker instead of Aguero, can anyone see a correlation...? :)

There was talk of that a few years ago however I think that's unlikely to happen now.

They are mid table in division 2 and are not financially stable.

He has a lot of business interests on the island and it wouldn't surprise me if he just retired completely from football and enjoyed his life back home. He absolutely deserves it

Here’s to you, David — you are an artist, a gentleman, an inspiration, and now a legend.

May we give you the one trophy that has yet escaped you.

That offer of impregnating my missus is still active even if you leave, by the way.

Incredible player. One that makes football worth watching.
One of the most consistent ones that performed at a very high level. 10 years. What’s else than a big thank you for giving us fans so much pleasure to watch.
