CAS judgement: UEFA ban overturned, City exonerated (report out p603)

In fact it specifically says, towards the bottom of page 11 of the CAS document (which is part of the Adjudicatory Chamber's verdict, not CAS's own wording) "It is recognised that the investigation raised very serious issues for the club, and it was entitled to instruct its solicitors to defend its position vigorously". So it's quite clear we did this on legal advice. Hence why I believe we'll appeal.
UEFA also conceded to the Panel that their request for permission to request evidence from Etihad directly may have been outside of their remit.

So CAS knows some of the requests were outlandish (interrogation of our staff at a private hearing by a UEFA lawyer, wtf?) but still takes a dim view of us not cooperating.

If you're referring to Mike Keegan he's an Oldham fan.
Dickhead all the same.

He might be but he prefers rags to us. Keegan family linked to rags. One of them is there announcer. Used to work at our stadium & jumped at the chance to leave us for them.

Could one of you lovely ladies or gentlemen whoever has Twitter please tweet sky sports the fella who is there go to guy on uefa and ffp has just said that city still have the premier league version of ffp to be investigated over,I thought that was a load of bollocks ...

Can't see that happening now to be honest .... unless they have something new to throw at City.

I have to say I'm really glad this is all behind us.

This was effectively the last chapter in a saga that started with the der Spiegel articles in 2018. 2 long years of bullshit from the Whatsapp group, waiting on an investigation, waiting on an appeal, waiting on CAS, waiting on this thread to publish the full award.

As bitter and sour as Harris x2, Conn, Panja et al. are....it's not news anymore, no one fucking cares.

Yes, twats online or in the pub will fuck up their recounting of it while they try to justify why we're beating them on the pitch, yeah there's an underlying animosity between the club, UEFA and the media that has been exposed and picked at...but it's back seat stuff now.

We'll spend a few days listening to podcasts, wishing the club would take action - maybe they will if someone really fucks up - but the horizon is clear.

I have to say the coverage of the decision is disappointing but not surprising. The headline is “blatant disregard” and time barred without getting into the the fact that the most serious allegations were not proved. Conn, Tariq Panja and the pair of Harrises analyses are unsurprisingly slanted in a predictable manner. I expected some serious discussion of

The best analysis of the issues has been by @projectriver on here. He has repeatedly said that the serious nature of the allegations about illegal funding presented a particular high bar that UEFA would have difficulty surmounting. Which of course they couldn’t. He also dealt with the likelihood of some of matters being time barred and so it proved.

It’s pretty depressing that the only detailed reasoned and factual analysis has been provided by a City fan on a podcast, blog and a forum But has been ignored by the sporting media. Predictable but still damning.

Non cooperation is an FFP breach???
Yeah Article 56.

It ties in with FFPR I believe, but also other rules.

It’s a minor breach, hence why we’ve been fined pocket changed and it shouldn’t be the headline news.

The real headline is UEFA banning us on the strength of a handful of doctored emails.

I did say Pearce was our witness;)

I've read it all now, it doesn't give me the payback I'd hoped for, but a win's a win.

The thing is, I think it does give the payback. Given we knew we were guilty of not cooperating (and the reasons why), I don’t think we could have hoped for much more. It paints UEFA as clueless jokers and the case they brought against us, with next to no evidence as laughable. Unfortunately, what we are finding is that fighting UEFA was arguably the easy part. Fighting the agenda-driven media is proving to be a much tougher task and one I fear we will never win.

Maybe I'm over-reacting but with the way journalists have been allowed to write their headlines/articles today, completely disregarding the overwhelming findings by CAS in favour of painting City in a bad light yet again... I think our media/pr department isn't fit for purpose.

Having a quiet word with journalists to slightly change a headline really isn't working.

I wouldn't think so .... the fine amount is paltry when compared to the possible cash prize earned from a likely two seasons in the Champions League .
Would cost more to get it overturned than the fine itself, also would start the whole hate campaign off all over again !

Non cooperation is an FFP breach???

It fits into the same category as a judicial system where a 'contempt of court' offence is added to a murder charge- except that on a murder charge had the alleged murderer been found guilty of the contempt but not of murder he would not have the contempt translated into murder. But Uefa have been shown to have made a complete and total bollocks of their non-case,much to the chagrin of the G14 and H9, and have to find a bit of mud from somewhere and which the RDAHMeedya can constantly pick up and sling ad nauseam whenever they drive down Ashton Rd.

Would it really be worth the risk given that the sanction could potentially be increased if we were unsuccessful? We've won the case, the whole affair is merely a footnote in our history now. Time to wipe our mouths and move on.

The media are in a race to the bottom, shock jocks, tabloid level reporting ,only Samuels is interested in being fair and balanced and printing the truth,i don't think we can change the gutter press
