You seen vvd at Southampton looked a great player guess what Southampton let in shit loads of goals with him there.
Yes but Ake never stands out in the Bournmouth team to anything like the same degree as VVD did for Southampton.

In my opinion, this would be a decent short/medium term signing but not a “great” one.

He’s better than Stones and Otamendi, but after the last couple of seasons that’s not setting the bar particularly high. He’s also currently better than Garcia & THB, but obviously they both have big potential.

I wouldn’t say no to Ake as a rotation player, but I can’t see him forming a formidable partnership with Laporte and that’s ultimately what we’re looking for.

Not paying the asking price for Van Dijk was (with hindsight, of course) a huge mistake.
We weren't prepared to pay the dosh required. Indeed if we had bought VVD we wouldn't have bought Laporte who is a better player for our style of football.

Someone sent me a message on Twitter early this morning saying City had had a 40m bid accepted. Said they knew someone who worked for the club. Ignored it cos there's so much of this going round. Guess they were right!

A bit expensive for a third choice!
Hopefully a good amount is in the form of add ons
After the Ferran torres masterclass every other player looks expensive :D

People will complain about the fee being a bit too high, but I'd ask those people if, with next season starting in 6 weeks, would you rather spend 2/3 weeks negotiating a £30-35m fee, or get Aké sorted, done, at the club in training sessions integrating into the side from Monday?

City always seem to allow “prem” clubs to announce the fee first. Definitely addons
True that.. Maybe it's just me.. But considering he counts as homegrown I guess it's a good deal.. Maybe? £41 just seems excessive in the market these days and considering we're buying from a relegated team.
