Sadly the celebrations are only if you do not live in the North West. Where the crisis grows and shrinks elsewhere.

Scoreboard:

London 70 (down from 103)

West Midlands 54 (lowest here in 10 days - its been in the 60s for 6 of the last 7 days)

Yorks & Humber 105 ('big'' drop from 106!)

But, sadly, yet another new record for the North West with case numbers up from yesterdays 172 to a whopping 226.

That is actually more than one third of the entire UK new cases. The worst I have ever sewn for one region.

We have a lot of work to do to get over this. I fear for the GM scoreboard coming up.

Hope our local politicians can get their act together and emphasise these things to those who have driven this. It should be a source of pride to tackle the problem. Not sure it will be.

For context the last 2 Sunday NW totals were 127 a fortnight ago and 164 last week.

Those in GM of a nervous disposition look away now.

Those who know the idiots show them the result of their actions. As this will go on for a while now before it gets better sadly.

Grim news for GM - 134 of the 744 UK cases (18%) are from here. Whereas GM has 4% of the UK population.

There needs to be drives on tele, on Catch-up platforms, on Netflix/Prime as an advert before programmes start and on social media - hammering home that going round to peoples houses, going out in crowds, not going home from the pub when it gets too busy... is creating these increases.

Say; “IT’S ON YOU!”

Maybe use celebrities as well as politicians, as many young people are too thick and think it’s cool not to listen to politicians.

GM scoreboard. Bad news for quite a few towns.

Bolton 9 (up from 6) 217 over the month - 54 over past week - 26 over past 3 days. Joined the 700 club. Pop score 701.5

Bury 14 (major shock - up from 1 to new record high of nearly double anything seen for one of our bright spots) 95 over past month - 34 in past week despite having two 0 cases days. Pop score shot up to 713.3 Must be a specific outbreak here somewhere. Hope they found it.

Manchester 19 (down from 37 so better news as half) 490 over the month - 190 over past week - 90 over past 3 days. Pop score 607.2

Oldham 25 (doubled from 13) 348 over the month - 141 over past week - 57 over past 3 days. Pop score 916.3 (will be first GM town to go over 1000 if not turned around fast)

Rochdale 12 (doubled from 6 and highest in a while for here) - 354 over the month - 63 over past week (still much better than Oldham) - 28 over past 3 days, Pop score 855.5

Salford 18 (record high for here up from 9) 183 over the month - 63 over past week - 34 of them in past 3 days. Pop score as only 500 club in GM - though not for long if this keeps up - 581.7

Stockport 15 (third new high in past 9 days and second on bounce up from 13 - big problems here) 150 over month (there were 38 in the first half of that month!) 71 in past week - 35 in past 3 days. Broke into 600 club at 604.2.

Tameside 13 (down from 15) 142 over past month - 60 in past week - 39 in past 3 days - like neighbour Stockport in trouble. Pop score 727.4

Trafford 7 (down from 12) 84 over past week - 30 in past 3 days. Pop score 611.3

Wigan 2 (down from 3 and does not deserve to be in lockdown) 75 over past month way clear as lowest in GM. 17 over past week - again light years ahead of the rest. Pop score 669.8

Other non GM watch locations.

Bradford 20 (down from 31 and lowest in over 2 weeks)

Blackburn & Darwen 20 - down from 23 and 4 of last 5 days have been around this number.

Leicester 23 - down from 25 and continues the slow but steady falls over past 4/5 weeks in lockdown from over 100.

Still became the first 1400 club location at pop score of 1403.6 Double most in GM.

Hopefully the test ,track and trace system will suppress the spread.

Thanks for taking the time to do this. Although massively depressing reading today.

Was supposed to be the weekend the kids could hug their grandparents for the first time since February. Have to say my anger is certainly starting to grow at those openly ignoring the rules this weekend. Over the road they've had a big party and two cars seemingly stayed over. Their next door neighbours are both over 80 and shielding.
