This is just for my curiosity! On the main page it would say for example, 250 members browsing, 500 members and 50 bots.

Wtf is a bot? What does it do and how does it do it? I imagine it's an automated programme of sorts but not sure why it would be on a forum and it's purpose? Especially that many.

They were just various search engine bots, indexing the site. They’re still there, and completely harmless, just not shown in the users online list any more.

It's the things that put raggy ads on the page when you've been in the rag thread or washing machines if you've been looking at them on Comet etc.

We’ve had to use enhanced Cloudflare security measures as the forum is coming under heavy bot attacks (hence the issues we had on Tuesday with the site running really slowly). Most users outside Europe or the US will be getting these security prompts for the time being.

I’ll see if I can whitelist your IP though. Any other users facing the same issue can either PM me or reply in here if they want me to do the same for them.

Pesky Arsenal bot herders, not satisfied with taking the PL, they want to take the forum.

Any idea @Ric on affiliation of the Bot attackers? Anti City? Anti Arab owners? Script kiddies? Griefers?

Bots on X are a big problem to set a narrative they want! Like when anything Positive is said about Man City then you look at replies they are all about 115 cheats and they have always less then 10 followers!

Tends to be AI scraping bots tbh. Christ knows what they think they’ll extract from on here though!

it's still the same, mate.

listen, i understand the scenario and why you need it in place right now, there are no special cases,
it is what it is, but i'm just explaining so you might have a better understanding...

i log in on my laptop.
i use firefox, which, when i shut it down deletes all cookies and history and whatnot,
so i always have to log in again when i return.
it takes but 10 seconds for the thingy to say yeah, you're not a bot, it's hardly the end of the world.

the frustrating thing is if i'm typing a long-winded reply, by the time i press post reply the bot detector has me down as a dawdler and i get oops we ran into some problems.
so i have to cut what i have written, reload the page for it to do its bot check, and then re-quote and paste the reply.

like i said, i'm just explaining not complaining.
