Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

It’s been a blast with Pep but it could genuinely be time to switch it up next summer. Things have gone a bit stale; Pep’s become obsessed with tinkering when in reality we’d found the perfect formula in 17/18. Now we’ve ended up losing Sane who was an incredible cog and nigh on impossible to replace like for like and replaced Fernandinho with an oil tanker. Frustating as we really could/should have won the CL at some point in the last 3 seasons.

Pep messed up tonight.

He is the best manager we have ever had. If he would sign a new contract for another 10 years I'd take it now.

Yes in the Champions league he has a tendency to over think things, and tonight this is what happened. He also tends to leave his changes too little and too late.

The narrative still won’t change, it will be all about whether pep will decide to extend.

for me he doesn’t deserve an extension and this Is what is holding us back. He is not doing us a favour managing us ffs.

we have completely indulged his footballing fantasy and it has worked domestically but In Europe it has been embarrassing.

we have no leaders, no pace and no striker other then Sergio. We also spent god knows what on defenders yet we still concede the same type of goal.
A lot of people on here seem to think he is doing us a favour, even after another p*ss poor performance to add to this season’s list.

Guardiola isn’t going to change his approach next season - the bloke is as stubborn as a mule and given our recent track record on transfers, I can’t see us making the signings we need to turn it around before he leaves.

The manner in which we lost would warrant people to want to call for his head. He didn't need to change the formation ffs. Someone should have told him we were playing Watford in a friendly match. Once he hears champions league knockout he self-destructs.

Whilst you have some valid points, you are also overreacting. He’s our most successful manager in our history. He’s also had some damn bad luck with injuries this season.

Even if you wanted to throw the baby out with the bath water, who are you proposing to bring in? He won’t stay too long, he has stated he has other challenges he wants to pursue in the future. But whilst he’s happy to stay, I think the club get a Stronger platform for the future.

No it's actually from people that call themselves City fans.
Exactly many of us have lived through darker times but move on... were a big club, striving to be the biggest so expectations need to relevant to the here and now!

Were you supporting City when we had Alan Ball, Stuart Pearce and Frank Clark?

Fuck me when are these responses ever going to go out of fashion?

We get it, Manchester City at one time played in League One and our Derby was once Macclesfield Town, how many times are we going to trot out this bollocks as some sort of reality check to an opinion on a team that has had 1 billion pounds spent on it in the last decade?

This is 2020, what happened in the 1990s is irrelevant.

Stuart Pearce, that name stills gives me shudders.
A man who put a teddy bear on the bench and put David James up front.
Any blue who had a season ticket while that clown was in charge deserves a medal.
Add to that every time he was talking about us he said "this football club" instead of us or City, got right on my nipple ends.
A dead hedgehog that's been run over by a van would have had more tactical nouse than that tool.

We need a change if we're to win the CL. Can't believe he started with 3 defensive midfielders. That's unforgivable for me, seems he's a chicken shit. Soz Pep, but your time is up.

One sub he made, didn't even throw the kitchen sink.

I think it's probably true that at Barca, Real, Bayern or Juve or any other club at the top of the world game. Pep probably gets sacked for this season. He probably would have got sacked for his first year with us as well, and our patience was proven correct in that instance.

However if he doesn't renew, letting him just run down the final year of his deal with the whole squad knowing he's gone doesnt have the makings of a great season to me. He signs on for a couple more years or we should get rid of him now and think about options. A zombie season will be good for nobody and it would make the club look pretty desperate and weak, ringing every second out of Pep at the expense of long term thinking.

Pep hasn't done well in the CL at city though. There's no way around that.

All well and good, but that’s 4 years in a row he’s made a bollocks of this competition. We wasted an hour tonight with an absolute clusterfuck of a team selection and tactics. Even Pep only has a finite number of lives.....
