Aouar would at least be able to play in front of the defence is the point, in place of Gundogan or Rodri.

I'm not wanting someone alongside them but someone in place of them.

He is pretty underwhelming. He doesn’t offer the defensive or aggression that dinho used to bring and going forward he doesn’t offer much except a sideways pass and a ball over the top every now and then. I have not been impressed by him to say the least but hopefully next season he is better.

I wouldn’t go as far as to call him gash but I don’t entirely disagree. He simply isn’t mobile enough for the role we ask him to play. Additionally It’s all too safe with him on the ball, too many slow sideways easy passes. Fernandinho would pass the ball at a much quicker tempo and would make passes between the lines, he’d also support the attack from higher up too popping up further forward to help with an overload because he had the athleticism to get back if we lost it. Rodri can learn and improve on the latter mentioned stuff, he’s young and it’s his first season but he isn’t suddenly going to become more mobile so we either need to change the way we play to accommodate for that or replace him. I’d rather Gundogan in there at present, not really much worse defensively as neither are quick enough against counters which is our weakness but at least offers something in possession.
 
Rodri is a great example how Pep becomes slave of his transfers. He is trying and trying even if the guy doesn’t preforming well. He even sacrificed our best DM Dinho moving him to CB. Yes he was put even with full squad. Rodri is still young and I Hope he‘ll improve.
 
He's an excellent player. But he's just not what we need right now.

He'd be an immediate upgrade on Gundogan but if we're keeping him then we're just further bloating our midfield with slow, indirect players.

Foden and De Bruyne is the combination that will press all game, create something from nothing and get people out of their seats and it's infuriating to watch Pep do everything he can to resist starting with that.
 
Him, Cornet and Dembelle would walk into our current squad in my opinion.

Fuck, even Denayer would be in with a shout.

Dembele would score the shit that Gabby and Raheem manage to miss. Cornet is one of the worst players I have seen, who miraculously manages to score against us. Aouar is just a clone of Gdog. We already have the older version and we certainly do not need a younger one. Denayer was horrendous yesterday, with his constant fouls going unpunished.

I watched the highlight (Lowlights) back this morning and Cornet made a lot of key blocks and interceptions. As far as Denayer goes, i thought he broke the game up really well.
