Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I expect PiGMOL will do to us what they did to get rid of Mourinho at Chelsea if they get wind he's leaving. They wouldn't want him going out on a high.

Expect lots of what the fuck decisions on the first 10 matches.

I don't think he will mind.

He has unfinished business with us.
Talk about conspiracy theorires

The season is still weeks away from starting for christ's sake

The best possible news this summer would still be a new long term contract, allowing him to build a new side with some younger players over the next 2 or 3 windows

I'm glad to hear him talk about a lack of pace at the back. If we can solve that and revitalise the middle of the park (eg. Thiago AND Aouar) last night's mess will become a distant memory
I missed that Pep corker about pace at the back after spending fuck knows what on attacking fullbacks.

What about a bit of pace in the middle, maybe a Hare to compliment his Slug, and Tortoise ?.

Those two should do advertisements for walking football for pensioners.

Hope he stays. He's the best about and I'd love to see him given the chance to right the wrongs of this season.
I'd like to think the club won't be as mental as a fair few fans and overreact to an admittedly poor performance.

Yep, the phrase "be careful what you wish for" springs to mind.

I dont want Pep to go at all but he will leave at some point....what about Bielsa at Leeds? Pep seems to rate him very highly which cant be a bad thing to start with.

Or the Flick guy at Bayern (is that his name?) - that would really piss them off!

Poch is an Espanyol man so I can’t see him going to Barcelona.

I guess I’d take him at a push although he doesn’t win trophies.

If the rumours are true it's Pochettino, many whispers we have paid him a retainer (true or not, who knows)

If he is the man the club think is right, they have a big decision to make and very quickly.

Barca job is available.

Pep would be mad to go back to Barcelona, Poch would be dangerous considering his Espanyol links and our current board's past links to their rivals.

As a club we need to flex our muscles a bit, we need to start cleaning our image up, take on a few of these so called journalists, speak to BT & Sky ,throw our weight around a bit
because if you dont take yourself seriously then you cant expect others too take you seriously. Pep has to get out of this mindset that he is helping a small club to over achieve, But the club has to get out of this appeasement mindset we have adopted as well. If you want to be a big club you have to act like a big club .

I said it after the arsenal game and have been worried by it all season but you can't really say much on here without getting pelters. The signs are so obvious it's hilarious others don't see it.

Like Mourinho the stubbornness and total belief in what he is doing was once a great strength but is now killing him. His time has passed unless he changes but he cannot see it. Neither can our own supporters.

We will win plenty of games next season with him in charge because of the ability of our players. We will also lose more than we should. If he doesn't adapt him being here next year will be a big mistake.
Completely agree, maybe Pep has peaked as a football manager, the game constantly changes and evolves.

Fergusson, Jose, Wenger were all greats but ended up shadows of themselves.

Is Pep a flat track bully? there is an argument there.

Irrelevant of which side of the fence we sit on. We need Pep to either sign an extension prior to next month/season or we should part ways, the performance in both semis since the return to football seem to point to a parting of the ways, bobbing along for 12 months (although it seems to work at Chelsea) shouldn't be an option.

Td;lr sign up for the long-term or ship out. No middle ground.

He is another bottle job.

CL final, benching Lucas Moura after scoring a hat trick for a half fit Harry Kane who hasn’t played in months.

If we want to win the CL it won’t be with him.

Personally I’d sooner we flexed our muscles in the transfer market - fuck the media just try to be the best.

Your point is valid but Peps not finished. Stick with him and we’ll be great again.

His constant "were are not yet ready to win the Champions league" or " we have little of no history in europe" is pissing me off.
We as a club have spent hundreds of millions on the world's best players, have the best facilities available, have hired the "world's best coach" yet he knocks us down all the time, why?

If I was Khaldoon, baldy would be in my office Monday morning for a serious chat, and sign on the dotted line (contract extension) or adios and gracias.

Have to agree. It's fine not over-egging your achievements but when he's regularly quoted as saying we need to develop to get to where "big clubs like Arsenal and United are in the UCL" it's entirely unnecessary and untrue. We passed Arsenal and United in terms of our readiness to win the UCL years ago. Not one of the current United or Arsenal squad were there when those teams last played in a Champs League final. By constantly playing us as the underdog and the team who haven't done it yet, it does nothing for the players' esteem and confidence. I see no sense in underestimating a team like Lyon but they must take confidence from a manager who seems very unsure (publicly at least) of his own team's chances of success and lifting the trophy.
Either Pep learns quickly from the weaknesses exploited by both Arsenal and Lyon in recent weeks or he needs to be moved aside. Living off past glories won't cut it.

That as well, if a hundred million gets you the best striker then slap the cash down, all part of throwing the weight around and being a big club.
