Why is trying to strike some understanding with north Korea, who have long been perceived as THE international threat, is being portrayed as betrayal or folly. ? It's called international relations. It's what our leaders should do. Shame it's him doing it,but still.

The intelligence supporting reports of Russian commanders funding Talliban fighters to kill coalition troops in Afghanistan was reported as 'highly probable or highly likely'. Whilst this is not 'almost certain' (the highest level of probability for intelligence at >90%), highly probable or highly likely is still 75-85% in the associated probability range.

When you consider the qualitative term 'realistic possibility' is 25-50% then highly probable or highly likely is more than enough to inform front line commanders that troops lives are at threat and to take action to prevent such attacks.

I'm not a betting man, but if I were a troop commander on the ground in Afghanistan I wouldn't like those odds one little bit.
That means absolutely nothing . It's bulls hit. And you should know that. American propaganda to justify their presence in other countries.

Any quotes to back up your post?

I'm not a racist, my shadow is black.

I'm not a murderer, some of my best friends are alive.

I'm not a fan of Trump but...

...are those really the sources you are submitting to refute @Trevor Morley's Tache’s assertions?

A comedian and a random twitter user quoting a “roving journalist”?

You aren’t going to get anywhere in a debate referencing opinion podcasters.

[waits for response linking to Joe Rogan rant]

I must say, I find it strange why the question of why the US has been in Afghanistan for almost 20 years is never questioned, especially after the supposed targets are pretty much non-existent now after being 'destroyed'.
You want the question to be... questioned?

And why the US is still in Afghanistan has been questioned constantly, from nearly the moment they invaded. Up until this year, for fairly obvious reasons, there was still quite a bit of activist and media scrutiny of the current US “mission” in Afghanistan. Some of the official reasons given make very little sense. Some of them make at least some sense, especially those related to country security in the context of IS remnants and other extreme islamist groups that are still operating in and around the region. But many Americans (and non-American observers) still fairly publicly question why the US is still there, so I am not sure where you are getting that it’s under no scrutiny.

Can I ask where this vitriol and accusation when Obama was dropping bombs on thousands of innocents in the Middle East??

'Crimes' seem to be quite subjective on these boards. Going by this assessment of 'crimes' there's a few 'leaders' in the West that should stand trial for that definition than just #45.

And I don't like the fucker.
Come on, Bigga, this post of yours has nothing to do with the concerns levied in this thread or out in the world when comes to the current POTUS.

Whether previous presidents should be punished for crimes has absolutely no bearing on whether this president is committing crimes and should be held accountable.

You committing murder doesn’t give me free reign to do so.

Your post is whataboutism, and I think you know that.

But, for what it is worth, there *are* a decent number of leaders in the West that deserve to stand trial for various actions (or inactions) taken in the past 30-40 years.

And I *actually* don’t like any of the f***ers.

You believe that about the Russians paying the taliban do you?
Yes
I don't think it's ever been corroborated that the Russians paid the taliban to kill American troops. Just more Russia gate hyperbole from the mass media akin, though in a totally different sphere, to the world cup scaremongering as another example.
Trump didn’t even raise the subject with Putin. But then if he had he’d have believed his denial over his own intelligence services.

I bet you don’t believe that the Russians murdered UK citizens with a biological agent in Salisbury a couple of years ago do you?

Why don’t you check a relevant thread and see?

This is the Trump thread.
And I don't like the fucker.
You still prefer him to Biden.

News today saying Trump is now 4% adrift in the polls, which is interesting, as it's narrowed considerably.

had a horrible feeling this may happen closer to the election

problem is so much stuff he does is quickly forgotten in today’s social media age where it’s one outrage to the next.

If the dust settles then he has a chance

The reality is that half the population don’t have any interest in current affairs and assume that nothing in the media can be trusted so they see nothing wrong with slightly preferring one questionable person with what they perceive to be another. How many times do you see “they’re all as bad as each other” on here? It’s just laziness from people who can’t be arsed doing a tiny bit of research, and are gullible enough to be taken in by random unsourced YouTube clips. That would account for a sizeable chunk of Trump’s support alongside those that know exactly what he’s like and support him because of it.

and those that are doing alright financially aswell, why rock the boat in their eyes

There was one poll which had them neck and neck recently then others with huge margins in Biden's favour.

I had a quick look at that 4% (CNN) poll, of around 1100 responses, and it does make for interesting reading. The bit that stood out was how many were voting for Biden from an anti-Trump perspective and vice-versa. Perhaps not surprising with a divisive incumbent in the White House, but Biden seems to be getting twice as much anti-Trump support as Trump is anti-Biden, and a slightly higher percentage of those siding with Trump say they could still change, so all that suits Biden really. Those voting on an 'anti' basis are unlikely to change and there's a better chance for Biden to chip at Trump's numbers.

It will be interesting to watch these over the next few weeks to see if Biden's running mate pick affects the polls. He's probably lost some votes, one would imagine, and this could be the first sign.

So, @SebastianBlue, we'll go in order!

The Dore tweet is just you being pedantic about the person NOT the substance of the tweet. That's pretty poor show from someone who I thought might be 'objective', but you're bias has already shown through.

I shouldn't be surprised, merely... disappointed.

All Dore did was point out the ACTUAL wording of what was said, not the 'spin' you seem to think is fine.

Nowhere in the realms of logic have the words "...if confirmed..." been testament to certainty and truth.

"Are the US still in the Middle East? Why is this situation still happening?" I think is a pretty fair thing to ask. Your president has deemed the 'freedom fighters' of Afghanistan no longer a threat, so leave already.

They don't because the MIC see the region as valuable. Every now and then, you might see some medium raise the question about occupation and then it's back to being forgotten. Every year there's a different reason to stay. I find it more interesting the lack of personal opinion about staying in occupied territory.

Finally, as for your current POTUS 'crimes', previous occupants ARE relevant whether you like it or not. It's just this Fat Blimp happens to be uncool and, somewhat, racist. Objectively, what has he done to deserve locking up that former Pres' can walk away from?

Not paid taxes? That's the biggie. Talking to Russia is something all Pres do, whether you know it or not. Bombed places? Formerly hated and now beloved Pres Bush did that. That Cool Kid Pres Obama did that.

I'm objective, so what's the criteria for imprisonment that disqualifies former Pres over this one...?

LOL!!

Only idiots ignore the up to 100M people that don't already vote that pretty much think "...that nothing in the media can be trusted..." and “they’re all as bad as each other”.

What's your court of opinion? CNN? MSNBC? Fox? Are they telling you how HUGE the gap is and how Biden-Harris are the answer?

I don't listen to 'unsourced' material without context and people, like myself, don't swallow the unabashed nonsense from echo chambers. I listen to it all and find the overlapping sections in it all.

I doubt VERY MUCH you do anything close to that.
