At 33,we'd be perfect for him to wind down his career.
He'd still be at a top team challenging for honours, and wouldn't be needing to play every game.
Couple of chill out years and hopefully a few medals to boot.
Just opinion.
The problem though is "challenging for honours", appears no longer to be good enough for some. If we don't win, it's a catastrophe and heads must roll.

Whats strange to me is we absolutely dominated the league playing 2 out and out wingers staying wide, a energetic DM and 2 creative mids, with Walker tucking in as 3rd CB providing the recovery pace at the back. The formula worked better than any in the Premier League so far

We've now gone to inverted wingers, 2 slow DM's and full backs providing the width, leaving 4 slow players in the defensive 3rd

We're worse all over the park, we never get the to the byline cutback chances like we used to

Midfield gets bypassed regularly

Defense gets destroyed with simple counter attacks

The players we are linked to as well just looks like we are going further in this direction.

Don't know if it's anything to do with Pep assistant leaving after the first title

I can't actually remember any of the recent signings having a big impact

Laportes great, but Stones and Otamendi were having the season of their lives when he signed.

Bernardo wasn't great in his first season

It's probably Walker and Ederson for the last time someone came in and made an immediate difference in the position

Mahrez, Cancelo, Rodri have all been worse than the players they replaced imo

Yes we did, but then we won all the domestic trophies the season after with Sterling left and Bernardo right. So either works. One of the reasons we don't get the cut back goals we used to is other coaches saw that too and block of that opening.

Any chance you lot could fuck this discussion off to one of the Pep/tactics threads and leave this one for wildly speculative transfer gossip & ropey VH1 pop vidz from the late 1980's?

Muchobligedthankyouverymuch x
