Think this is wrong to be honest

Ake is better than people give him credit for...he has pace to burn and is a leader....he is a huge improvement on Ota and as good as Stones at least - the one things he lacks is a bit of height but he has a decent leap on him as well

Aouar for me is a big improvement on Gundogan for starters and takes D.Silvas spot int he squad - of course he wont be as good as D.Silva but few/if any are.

Torres - a young kid so a bit of an unknown but that means he can be easily coached - Sane was a top class player BUT he wouldnt do everything that Pep requires so there is room for improvement - he adds depth to our squad and could turn out to be a real diamond

With those 3 plus Koulibaly and maybe a kid or two here and there (and irresspective of whether the Messi stuff comes to fruition or not) that would be a pretty damn good summer.

Let's hope so mate

I think people are really underestimating the impact Aké will have.

Pep said outright that the reason we played the way we did against Lyon was because we've got no pace in the centrebacks, and that makes us vulnerable to balls into the channel.

That's what's undone us in many games this season, and Aké fixes it. I think if we had him in the squad, he'd have started Saturday's game vs. Lyon and we'd have played 433.

With laporte or Garcia?

I don't mean to be too direct here, but why is it that you have information that the Aouar deal is done, but Sam Lee, the journalist who writes for The Athletic doesn't?

Just curious, that's all.

Because Ezzy, and Prestwich blue, said its a done and dusted deal

There is some interest from Chelsea and Arsenal re Stones, although both loans with possible commitments to buy.

Garcia leaving means that could now change though.

Think Otamendi agent is hoping for a similar loan to buy arrangement next summer to get him out now and off wages.

Bravo and Dave gone now, obviously, but freeing up decent wiggle room on the wage bill.

The people on Villa forums can rest easy, we have the option for another year and Luiz won't be coming this summer.
I’ve heard from a couple of people that if Stones does leave, he wants to stay up north because he’s involved in a messy child access situation with his ex

My friends here who’ve seen Ake home & away as Bournemouth fans see him having the same ceiling as Van Dijk. In as much as he’ll take our defence up another level. From my time at the Vitality his calm and class on the ball set him apart.

I think he can be good addition, but the problem he will be only back up CB playing in cup & whenever Laporte is injured.

Would love to believe that, he's a great addition to the squad but nowhere near Van dyke level, hope I am wrong.

Feels a daft way to think about it, I never understand it - why do you think this, because he’s left footed? He’s pretty sound on both.. nevertheless Pep likes to rotate and play people all over the shop. Ake will get his chance alongside Laporte and if he grabs it, they could easily become an established partnership.

Can they play together as 2 CBs ? or it has to be one left footed and one right ?
